Harvey Elliott<\/a> has reportedly told Liverpool<\/a> that he wants to play regular football if they decide to keep him at Anfield next season. The young playmaker has been the subject of transfer speculation over the last few days, with a host of clubs thought to be queuing up to sign him. It comes after Elliott shone for England under-21s during their successful Euros title defence in Slovakia.<\/p>\n

The likes of Fulham<\/a>, Newcastle<\/a> and RB Leipzig<\/a> are reportedly interested in signing Elliott between now and the start of next season. It has been reported<\/a> that Liverpool<\/a> would be prepared to sell the 22-year-old for upwards of \u00a340million this summer. Elliott has done his part to fuel the rumours about his future, recently saying that he did not want to ‘waste years’ on the sidelines<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Now, it seems the England youth international may have changed his tune. He has informed Liverpool<\/a> that he wants to play regularly next season after seeing his role diminish under Arne Slot<\/a>, according to TBR Football<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Towards the end of last season, Elliott hinted that he wanted to stay at Anfield and fight for his place rather than give up and join a lesser club. He even said that he would be willing to remain a Liverpool<\/a> player for the duration of his career.<\/p>\n

“Hopefully I am still here, to be honest,” he told the Liverpool Echo<\/a> when quizzed on his future. “It is the best place to be, the best club to be at and especially having the fans around us at the moment, I don’t think there is a better place to be playing.<\/p>\n

“Players go through ups and downs but at the end of the day you have to come out fighting and I think it is within myself to make it happen, so hopefully I can stay here for the rest of my career.”<\/p>\n

It remains to be seen what will happen if the Reds fail to assure Elliott that his demands will be met. He is certainly not short of options, though any move will hinge on whether an interested club is willing to match Liverpool<\/a>‘s asking price.<\/p>\n

Jermain Defoe, the former England striker, recently urged Elliott to join a club where he can be the main man rather than continuing as a bit-part player at Liverpool<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“There\u2019ll be a lot of clubs watching this tournament,” said Defoe on Channel 4 after Elliott scored a brace for the Young Lions against the Netherlands.<\/p>\n

“We said it before, he\u2019s too good to not be playing, when you\u2019re producing in big tournaments like this against the best players. The two goals that we saw this evening, he\u2019s a top, top player.<\/p>\n

“For him, he just needs to go out and play, get himself in a team where he\u2019s one of the main players, and just go out and express yourself and show how good you are.”<\/p>\n
