Prior to selling his stake and investing in JHR, Hollinger was involved in F1 as a co-owner of the Williams team and has used the relationships forged during that period to recruit a number of ex-F1 staffers for JHR, including team principal Dave O’Neill.

F1’s move to an annual budget cost cap in 2021, and the limitations it has created with the amount of staff F1 teams can carry, which slows the development of new and younger mechanics and engineers in the field, has inspired the owner of Vibra Healthcare to explore the formation of an F1-to-IndyCar alliance.

With the Speedway, Indiana-based organization he owns with Ricardo Juncos, Hollinger sees JHR and IndyCar as the perfect preparatory system to create with an F1 team, and in return, JHR would benefit from an infusion of fresh talent and engineering knowledge from a grand prix program.

“Because of the cost cap in Formula 1, there certainly is an opportunity to create a relationship with one of the Formula 1 teams from a collaboration of technology, them sending over younger mechanics, engineers, and they don’t have to worry about the wage gap and the cost cap,” Hollinger told RACER.

From tire modelling to damping to simulation tools, there’s a lot an IndyCar team can learn from an F1 operation to improve today’s Dallara DW12 and what’s coming in 2028 with the new IndyCar chassis.

“And we would benefit significantly by the outrageous amount of RD&E (research, development, and engineering) they do,” Hollinger added. “Dave (O’Neill) and I have talked about that, and he’s got some strong relationships from his former life there, and I still have a relationship with Williams. And I’m not saying that there has been any interest by any of those teams, but it’s something we’re exploring.”

Juncos Hollinger Racing is seeking a technical alliance to improve the competitive fortunes of its two-car IndyCar Series…

[4103
4199,707,4200,79,16,15
0":"post-227855","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-f1","8":"tag-f1","9":"tag-formula-1","10":"tag-formula1","11":"tag-sports","12":"tag-uk","13":"tag-united-kingdom
["GET
