{"id":227917,"date":"2025-07-01T00:23:24","date_gmt":"2025-07-01T00:23:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/227917\/"},"modified":"2025-07-01T00:23:24","modified_gmt":"2025-07-01T00:23:24","slug":"cyclist-dies-after-crash-with-car-in-bristol","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/227917\/","title":{"rendered":"Cyclist dies after crash with car in Bristol"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving while over the prescribed limit for drugs<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/1_WhatsApp-Image-2025-06-26-at-155253.jpg\" alt=\"File image of police road closure\" loading=\"eager\"  \/>File image of police road closure(Image: Paul Gillis\/ReachPLC)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">A cyclist died at the scene of a crash involving a car in Bristol.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Emergency services were called to the collision involving a grey Mercedes car and a cyclist on Aust Road yesterday afternoon, Sunday, June 29.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Despite best efforts of the ambulance service, the cyclist died at the scene.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Their next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">A man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving while over the prescribed limit for drugs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">They have since been released under investigation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The road was closed for around eight hours while an investigation was carried out.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Police are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash or who has dashcam footage, to get in contact.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Anyone who may be able to assist the police is asked to call 101 quoting the reference number 5225181772.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">A statement from Avon and Somerset Police said: &#8220;Police are appealing for witnesses and any CCTV or journey-cam footage following a fatal collision at Aust.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">&#8220;Officers were called at 12.36pm Sunday 29 June to the collision between a grey Mercedes car and a cyclist on Aust Road. &#8220;Tragically, despite the best efforts of the ambulance service, the cyclist died at the scene. Their next of kin have been informed and will be supported by a family liaison officer.
