But no one was injured during the collision.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \"><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">Read more: <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.birminghammail.co.uk\/news\/midlands-news\/paedophile-pensioner-80-jailed-sex-31964979\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Paedophile pensioner, 80, jailed for sex offences dating back 40 years<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The student officer was found to be over the drink drive limit and was arrested and charged.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">He was also suspended following the incident.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">He was convicted of drink driving at <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.birminghammail.co.uk\/\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Birmingham<\/a> Magistrates\u2019 Court in April.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">He received a 12-month driving ban and was ordered to pay a \u00a3250 fine, plus \u00a3100 in costs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Williams faced an accelerated misconduct hearing on Monday (June 30) and was found to have seriously breached the standards of professional behaviour as set out in the Police (Conduct) Regulations 2020.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">He was said to have had discreditable conduct and was also unfit for duty.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \"><a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.birminghammail.co.uk\/newsletter-preference-centre\/?view=Solus&amp;mailingListId=67ec6fc9-65d2-4b0c-b55e-ee73660ce693&amp;utm_source=solusarticle\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"[object Object]Link opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">Get the latest BirminghamLive news direct to your inbox<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">In dismissing Williams from the force, Deputy Chief Constable Rachel Jones said: \u201cOur communities expect our officers to adhere to the law and to keep others safe.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cWilliams fell far below the standards that the public expect.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cWilliams committed a criminal offence and put himself and other road users at risk.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cThis is inexcusable and he will no longer serve in our force.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cWe will continue to root out the small minority of officers who do not adhere to the standards of behaviour that we and our communities expect\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Williams will now be added to the College of Policing\u2019s Barred List, banning him from working for a UK police service in the future.
