{"id":228174,"date":"2025-07-01T02:44:14","date_gmt":"2025-07-01T02:44:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/228174\/"},"modified":"2025-07-01T02:44:14","modified_gmt":"2025-07-01T02:44:14","slug":"oleksandr-usyk-defeated-juggernaut-who-shattered-daniel-dubois-eye-socket-years-before-stellar-pro-career","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/228174\/","title":{"rendered":"Oleksandr Usyk defeated &#8216;Juggernaut&#8217; who shattered Daniel Dubois&#8217; eye socket years before stellar pro career"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Oleksandr Usyk will face Daniel Dubois for a second time having beaten him in 2023, but Usyk has also beaten the one other man to hand Dubois a defeat.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloodyknockout.com\/tag\/oleksandr-usyk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Oleksandr Usyk<\/a> is hoping to put any <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloodyknockout.com\/features\/low-or-legal-champions-have-their-say-on-daniel-dubois-and-oleksandr-usyks-controversial-first-encounter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">low-blow controversy<\/a> to bed as he is set to rematch <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloodyknockout.com\/tag\/daniel-dubois\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Daniel Dubois<\/a> on July 19th at Wembley Stadium.<\/p>\n<p>Usyk defeated Dubois in 2023 via round nine KO, though Dubois has been on a dominant run of form since then, picking up much-needed confidence with wins over <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloodyknockout.com\/tag\/jarrell-miller\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jarrell Miller<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloodyknockout.com\/tag\/filip-hrgovic\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Filip Hrgovic<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloodyknockout.com\/tag\/anthony-joshua\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Anthony Joshua<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Dubois has just one other loss on his record, to a \u2018Juggernaut\u2019 Usyk defeated in 2013.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"590\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/GettyImages-1288332313-1024x590.jpg\" alt=\"Daniel Dubois takes a knee after having his eye socket fractured by Joe Joyce\" class=\"wp-image-14616\" \/>Photo by Julian Finney\/Getty ImagesOleksandr Usyk defeated Joe Joyce in amateur bout years before Joyce vs Dubois<\/p>\n<p>In 2020, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloodyknockout.com\/tag\/joe-joyce\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Joe \u2018The Juggernaut\u2019 Joyce<\/a> became the first man to defeat, and stop, Daniel Dubois.<\/p>\n<p>Dubois was knocked out by a left jab, having taken a knee due to a fractured eye socket caused by Joyce.<\/p>\n<p>While many ruled Dubois out, Joyce went on an impressive run, eventually defeating <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloodyknockout.com\/tag\/joseph-parker\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Joseph Parker<\/a>, who is now touted as one of the heavyweight division\u2019s greatest fighters.<\/p>\n<p>Things went wrong for Joyce when he faced <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloodyknockout.com\/tag\/zhilei-zhang\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Zhilei Zhang<\/a>, taking two damaging stoppage losses that changed him as a fighter. He has since lost to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloodyknockout.com\/tag\/derek-chisora\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Derek Chisora<\/a> and Filip Hrgovic.<\/p>\n<p>It was in 2013, though, that Usyk was standing opposite Joyce in the amateur World Series of Boxing. <\/p>\n<p>Usyk defeated Joyce, winning every round on all three scorecards, and Joyce had previously spoken on getting his revenge, though that now seems like a fight that will never and should never materialise.<\/p>\n<p>Oleksandr Usyk vs Daniel Dubois 2 isn\u2019t the only mega-fight on July 19th<\/p>\n<p>Usyk vs Dubois 2 tops a card that will also feature <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloodyknockout.com\/news\/daniel-dubois-went-down-three-times-in-the-opening-round-against-former-cruiserweight-ahead-of-his-clash-with-oleksandr-usyk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kevin Lerena, who dropped Dubois three times<\/a>, vs Lawrence Okolie. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloodyknockout.com\/news\/daniel-dubois-weighs-in-on-an-awkward-new-heavyweight-facing-the-foe-who-dropped-him-three-times\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dubois thinks Okolie will beat Lerena<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In the United States, though, another mega-fight will take place as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloodyknockout.com\/tag\/manny-pacquiao\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Manny Pacquiao<\/a> is set to return to the ring at the age of 46 against welterweight world champion <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloodyknockout.com\/features\/manny-pacquiao-had-his-debut-months-before-his-comeback-opponent-was-even-born-over-30-years-ago\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mario Barrios, who was born months after Pacquiao turned pro<\/a> as a fighter.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/GettyImages-2217866110-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Manny Pacquiao stands beside Mario Barrios at their press conference, Barrios has a belt over his shoulder\" class=\"wp-image-21874\" \/>Photo by PATRICK T.
