\n\tLONDON<\/a> \u2014<\/strong> After a challenging few years, Stephen Webster<\/a> is back, serving up cocktails, and cocktail rings, at his new flagship in Burlington Arcade<\/a> in Mayfair.<\/p>\n

\n\tIt\u2019s been more than 10 years since Webster has had a street-facing store \u2014 the former one was on Mount Street \u2014 and he\u2019s eager to get going, with plans to serve up martinis, English sparkling wine and Double Diamond beer.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe store spans three floors with Webster\u2019s colorful core collections on the ground level, a space for private client appointments and bespoke commissions upstairs, and a No Regrets Lounge in the basement, similar to the bars Webster has in Nashville and Beverly Hills.<\/p>\n

\n\tDesigned by Guy Hollaway Studio, the store features handcrafted display cases, scale models of designs that demonstrate his creative process, and art by friends and clients including Tracey Emin<\/a>, Damien Hirst<\/a> and Harland Miller<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThis is a huge deal for us, and a real statement about what we look like now,\u201d said Webster during an interview from the store, where he\u2019s surrounded by personal objects and ephemera, including a souvenir tin with a slice of Kate and William\u2019s wedding cake from 2011. (Webster is the former creative director of Garrard, the British crown jeweler for more than a century that made the engagement ring given to Kate by William, which previously belonged to his late mother Princess Diana).<\/p>\n

\n\tWebster, many of whose clients were Russian, said he nearly lost the business after the outbreak of war in Ukraine, and the trade sanctions that followed. \u201cWe had to pull ourselves out of that, which is why this is such an emotional\u201d moment, he said.<\/p>\n

\n\tFor the past few years, Webster has been taking private appointments at his showroom on Mount Street, and has had a long-standing space at Harrods, but it\u2019s not the same as having a stand-alone street-level store.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe traffic in Burlington Arcade \u2014 the original shopping arcade \u2014 is truly global, and I have name recognition here. And I\u2019m also able to tell the story behind the product,\u201d said the designer, who has redecorated the whole of the arcade in his jewel tones and patterns, and will be taking over London<\/a> black cabs with his branding, too.<\/p>\n

\n\tAlthough Webster is best known for his gutsy, statement jewelry<\/a> for men and women \u2014 he\u2019s making a manta ray cuff for a former Olympic swimmer, and a monogram bracelet for a member of Guns N\u2019 Roses \u2014 he also designs glasses, knives and bar accessories.<\/p>\n

\n\tAhead of the opening, he even qualified for a London liquor license, which makes him particularly proud. He scored 83 percent, which he said was a first for him on any test.<\/p>\n

\n\tWebster said he wants No Regrets, which will be open from noon until the arcade closes at 7 p.m., to feel like a speakeasy \u2014 and there\u2019s even a neon sign on the ground floor pointing the way down.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cAnyone can come by for a drink \u2014 you don\u2019t have to buy any jewelry<\/a> or homeware,\u201d said Webster, who tapped his friend, the award-winning London barman Nick Strangeway, to come up with the drinks and train the staff.<\/p>\n

\n\tThey\u2019ll be serving up local alcohol, including \u201ca flight of martinis,\u201d three small cocktails made from Crystal Head vodka or English gin. The menu includes Double Diamond beer, Sugrue sparkling wine and a cider-based nonalcoholic cocktail that Webster is calling the Sourpuss.<\/p>\n

\n\tTrupti Shah, commercial director at Burlington Arcade \u2014 which opened in 1819 and is home to brands including Manolo Blahnik, Azza Fahmy, Ladur\u00e9e, Gagosian and Lalique \u2014 said the partnership with Webster dovetails with the arcade\u2019s focus on luxury and craft.<\/p>\n
