{"id":228561,"date":"2025-07-01T06:13:12","date_gmt":"2025-07-01T06:13:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/228561\/"},"modified":"2025-07-01T06:13:12","modified_gmt":"2025-07-01T06:13:12","slug":"cambridgeshire-youth-forum-to-tackle-young-peoples-unemployment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/228561\/","title":{"rendered":"Cambridgeshire youth forum to tackle young people&#8217;s unemployment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">A <a href=\"https:\/\/cambridgeshirepeterborough-ca.moderngov.co.uk\/documents\/s4813\/Appendix%20A%20-%20Youth%20Trailblazer%20Guarantee%20Business%20Case.pdf\" class=\"ssrcss-f6h2dj-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">report, external<\/a> presented to the CPCA funding committee said the youth forum would be &#8220;critical&#8221; to making the scheme a success and should include &#8220;young people&#8217;s voices and lived experiences&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">It said there were record high shares of 16- to 24-year-olds in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough who were economically inactive, at nearly 49% in the year to June 2024, although most of these were students.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Numbers of young people economically inactive due to other reasons had increased on an annual basis, such as being temporarily sick, discouraged, or unable to seek work.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Peterborough had the highest rates of teenagers not economically active, in education or training (NEET), at 4% for 16-year-olds and 6% for 17-year-olds.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The CPCA said: &#8220;Having assessed current levels of NEET, economic inactivity and the index of multiple deprivation, we are concerned about Peterborough, Fenland, East Cambridgeshire, and some neighbourhoods in Cambridge and Huntingdonshire.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The youth guarantee would apply to 18- to 21 year-olds, as well as 16- and 17-year-olds who have disengaged from education or are at risk of doing so.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The new forum would be recruited with the help of local organisations such as youth groups, councils, job centres and volunteer groups.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A report, external presented to the CPCA funding committee said the youth forum would be &#8220;critical&#8221; to making&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":228562,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[3092],"tags":[51,897,16,15],"class_list":{"0":"post-228561","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-jobs","8":"tag-business","9":"tag-jobs","10":"tag-uk","11":"tag-united-kingdom"},"share_on_mastodon":{"url":"https:\/\/pubeurope.com\/@uk\/114776506723256412","error":""},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/228561","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=228561"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/228561\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/228562"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=228561"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=228561"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=228561"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
