Ferrari deputy team principal Jerome d\u2019Ambrosio confirmed that a \u201cstep forward\u201d has been achieved with the SF-25 in Austria.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The confirmation that a new floor brought to Austria \u201cdelivered what it was supposed to deliver\u201d will be music to the ears of Ferrari<\/a> drivers Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc, though while the Scuderia are set on finding further performance in the SF-25, d\u2019Ambrosio noted that this must be balanced with their F1 2026 efforts.<\/p>\n

Ferrari arrived at the Red Bull Ring with a revamped floor and diffuser, looking to boost their bid for P2 in the Constructors\u2019 Championship as McLaren march towards back-to-back titles.<\/p>\n

And the first audition was a positive one, Leclerc making the front row before finishing the race P3 \u2013 his fourth podium of the season \u2013 while Hamilton was a comfortable P4.<\/p>\n

Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur returned home for personal reasons ahead of the Austria race, meaning deputy d\u2019Ambrosio provided the upgrades verdict.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe feedback is that it\u2019s basically delivered what it was supposed to deliver, which is important, and it\u2019s a step forward,\u201d he confirmed to the media, including PlanetF1.com.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd then in terms of future development, obviously I\u2019m not going to unfold how we\u2019re going to approach the next six months right here, but let\u2019s say that we\u2019re in a phase of the season where we need to\u2026 And actually it\u2019s something that we\u2019ve been thinking about since the beginning of the year. \u201926 is a big change.\u201d<\/p>\n

This is the final season with the current regulations. For F1 2026, revamped chassis rules and engines are on the way.<\/p>\n

D\u2019Ambrosio added: \u201cThere\u2019s \u201925 also. We want to make progress. We want to continue to move forward, balancing the two, and it will be something that we\u2019re taking into consideration.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Ferrari SF-25 has been plagued by rear-end instability, so d\u2019Ambrosio was asked whether the new floor has cured some of the SF-25\u2019s core weaknesses.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe floor was an evolution of the current philosophy,\u201d he replied. \u201cThere was no drastic change in approach or in philosophy on the car.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was just adding a bit of downforce, and that\u2019s what we did.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s obviously a lot of things that we\u2019re working on in the background, on every aspect of the car, and we want to move forward again.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s an important consideration between the challenge of next year and between this year\u2019s challenge. But if we can, and what we do in the factory is to try to push the boundaries and improve the car.\u201d<\/p>\n
