With Sheffield Wednesday on the brink of collapse, as the Sheffield Star<\/a> confirmed that Owls legend Callum Patterson has moved on from the club as a free agent, after his contract expired.<\/p>\n

Patterson joins the list of Championship free agents<\/a> after he rejected an initial contract offer at Sheffield Wednesday, and after no further contact was made on the club\u2019s part, the versatile player is \u201cassessing his numerous options elsewhere\u201d amid interest from Championship and League One suitors.<\/p>\n

The departure of promotion hero Patterson is the latest blow to land on Sheffield Wednesday supporters.<\/p>\n

In the dugout, Owls boss Danny Rohl is close to an exit, with Leicester in talks over Rohl<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Regarding the financial saga, EFL Analysis<\/strong> revealed earlier today that Owls owner Chansiri is facing strike action<\/a> after several players have gone unpaid for June.<\/p>\n

Football finance expert Kieran Maguire revealed how Sheffield Wednesday fans can instigate change<\/a> against the ownership of Chansiri, which is threatening the existence of one of the EFL\u2019s most historic football clubs.<\/p>\n

Patterson arrived at Hillsborough from Cardiff City<\/a> ahead of the Owls\u2019 2020\/21 Championship campaign, and went on to make 186 appearances in an Owls jersey, scoring 31 goals and notching 15 assists.<\/p>\n

Patterson scored the fifth Owls goal in Sheffield Wednesday\u2019s dramatic 5-1 comeback victory over Peterborough United<\/a> in the League One<\/a> play-off semi-final second leg.<\/p>\n

A historic night of EFL action at Hillsborough culminated in Patterson\u2019s deft finish bringing the Owls level with the Posh, after Peterborough won the first leg with a resounding 4-0 win.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Patterson\u2019s equaliser took the tie to a penalty shoot-out, which the Owls won 5-3 to send Darren Moore\u2019s side to Wembley, where they beat Barnsley 1-0 to confirm their second tier return.<\/p>\n
