It\u2019ll see frontman Ozzy Osbourne, guitarist\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/artists\/tony-iommi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tony Iommi<\/a>, bassist\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/artists\/geezer-butler\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Geezer Butler<\/a>\u00a0and drummer Bill Ward perform onstage together for the first time in two decades.<\/p>\n<p>Besides marking the metal pioneers\u2019 and Ozzy\u2019s final show, the concert will also seemingly give their hometown\u2019s economy a major boost, per figures from the <a href=\"https:\/\/wmgrowth.com\/about-us\/media-centre\/news\/post\/summer-starts-here-as-west-midlands-plays-host-to-historic-20m-july-weekend\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">West Midlands Growth Company<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In a new report, the West Midlands Growth Company has estimated a \u00a320million boost, thanks in large part to the final Sabbath gig, which has been dubbed \u201cthe greatest heavy metal show ever\u201d, as around 300,000 music, culture, sports and food fans are expected to visit Birmingham early this month.<\/p>\n<p>Sharon Osbourne, Ozzy\u2019s wife and former manager, said in a statement:\u00a0\u201cBirmingham is a city which means so much to Ozzy. When it comes to heavy metal music, Black Sabbath forming and his love of Aston Villa \u2013 it all started here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to the West Midlands Growth Company, hotels in Birmingham are at 89 per cent capacity for the upcoming Sabbath weekend, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/jeff-lynnes-elo-birmingham-manchester-dates-2025-uk-goodbye-tour-buy-tickets-3807451\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">which will also see Jeff Lynne\u2019s ELO perform in the city<\/a> \u2013 other events taking place over the weekend include a cricket match at Edgbaston, and the Colmore food festival.<\/p>\n<p>This is seen as a massive improvement over the 52 per cent hotel capacity during the same period in July 2024.\u00a0Cafes, bars, businesses and music venues across Birmingham are all also set to benefit from the massive influx of visitors.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"instagram-media\" data-instgrm-captioned=\"\" data-instgrm-permalink=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reel\/DFu3ZyBzEea\/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;utm_campaign=loading\" data-instgrm-version=\"14\" style=\" background:#FFF; border:0; border-radius:3px; box-shadow:0 0 1px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.5),0 1px 10px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.15); margin: 1px; max-width:658px; min-width:326px; padding:0; width:99.375%; width:-webkit-calc(100% - 2px); width:calc(100% - 2px);\">\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Over the weekend (June 28), it was revealed that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/black-sabbath-given-the-freedom-of-the-city-of-birmingham-ahead-of-final-gig-3874807\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Black Sabbath had been given the freedom of the city of Birmingham ahead of their final gig<\/a>, with all four original band members presented with scrolls and medals by the Lord Mayor. The honour was given at a private ceremony on Saturday, which recognised the band\u2019s significance as heavy metal pioneers from the city.<\/p>\n<p>Last week,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/black-sabbath-share-first-look-at-preparations-for-back-to-the-beginning-farewell-show-3872297\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the band shared their first behind-the-scenes look at preparations for their upcoming final show<\/a>. The Prince Of Darkness has not played a full gig since 2018, and has\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/ozzy-osbourne-opens-up-about-slow-recovery-after-final-spinal-surgery-3568962\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">undergone multiple surgeries<\/a>\u00a0and experienced numerous health problems in recent years, including\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/film\/ozzy-osbourne-doc-reveal-devastating-setbacks-rockers-parkinsons-spinal-surgeries-3841247\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Parkinson\u2019s disease<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Despite his health,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/ozzy-osbourne-says-hes-giving-120-per-cent-to-get-ready-for-final-show-3866043\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Osbourne has said he is \u201cgiving 120 per cent\u201d as he prepares for his last performance<\/a>. \u201cI\u2019ve got this trainer guy who helps people get back to normal,\u201d the singer said. \u201cIt\u2019s hard going, but he\u2019s convinced that he can pull it off for me. I\u2019m giving it everything I\u2019ve got. All I can say is I\u2019m giving 120 per cent. If my God wants me to do the show, I\u2019ll do it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He had previously\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/sharon-osbourne-cancels-tour-last-minute-family-issues-ozzy-in-training-for-final-show-3857417\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told fans that he was \u201cin heavy training\u201d for the Black Sabbath farewell concert<\/a>, and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/ozzy-osbourne-is-starting-to-get-in-the-gym-again-for-final-black-sabbath-gig-hes-the-real-life-iron-man-3841513\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">was back in the gym<\/a>. Osbourne also\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/ozzy-osbourne-only-playing-little-bits-and-pieces-with-black-sabbath-at-final-reunion-gig-3838506\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said he would only be \u201cdoing little bits and pieces\u201d with Sabbath<\/a>\u00a0at Villa Park amid his health problems: \u201cI am doing what I can, where I feel comfortable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Black Sabbath\u2019s stacked, star-studded bill boasts an array of heavyweights from the worlds of metal and rock.
