{"id":231196,"date":"2025-07-02T05:33:13","date_gmt":"2025-07-02T05:33:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/231196\/"},"modified":"2025-07-02T05:33:13","modified_gmt":"2025-07-02T05:33:13","slug":"russia-ukraine-war-list-of-key-events-day-1224-russia-ukraine-war-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/231196\/","title":{"rendered":"Russia-Ukraine war: List of key events, day 1,224 | Russia-Ukraine war News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"article__subhead\">Here are the key events on day 1,224 of Russia\u2019s war on Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p>Here is how things stand on Wednesday, July 2:<\/p>\n<p>Fighting<\/p>\n<ul class=\"spaced-bullet-spacing\">\n<li>A Ukrainian <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2025\/7\/1\/ukrainian-drone-attack-on-factory-deep-inside-russia-kills-three-wounds-35\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">drone attack<\/a> on an industrial plant in Izhevsk, in central Russia, killed three people and injured 35 others, regional Governor Alexander Brechalov said in a post on Telegram.<\/li>\n<li>The drone struck the Kupol Electromechanical Plant, which produces air defence systems and drones for the Russian military, an unnamed official with Ukraine\u2019s Security Service, the SBU, told the Associated Press news agency.<\/li>\n<li>A Russian attack on a vehicle evacuating civilians from Pokrovsk, in Ukraine\u2019s Donetsk region, killed one person and injured a policeman, police said.<\/li>\n<li>The Ministry of Defence in Moscow said that 60 Ukrainian drones were downed overnight over several regions, including 17 over Russian-occupied Crimea, 16 over Russia\u2019s Rostov region and four over Russia\u2019s Saratov region.<\/li>\n<li>Ukraine\u2019s Air Force said on Tuesday that Russia launched 52 Shahed and decoy drones at the country overnight.<\/li>\n<li>The United Nations nuclear watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency, said on Tuesday that it has been informed of a drone attack last week near Ukraine\u2019s Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant that damaged several vehicles near the site\u2019s cooling pond.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Weapons<\/p>\n<ul class=\"spaced-bullet-spacing\">\n<li>Ukrainian Minister of Defence Rustem Umerov announced a new joint weapons production programme with members of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group (UDCG), an alliance of about 50 countries. The programme would offer \u201ca special legal and tax framework\u201d to help establish new factories, \u201cboth on Ukrainian territory and abroad\u201d, Umerov said in a post on social media.<\/li>\n<li>The Pentagon has reportedly halted some shipments of air defence missiles and other precision munitions to Ukraine over concerns that US stockpiles are too low, the Reuters news agency reported, citing two unnamed sources. The Pentagon did not immediately comment on the report.<\/li>\n<li>A Russian-British dual national appeared in a London court on Tuesday, charged with sending cryptocurrency for pro-Russian separatist militias in eastern Ukraine to buy weapons and military equipment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Politics and diplomacy<\/p>\n<ul class=\"spaced-bullet-spacing\">\n<li>French President Emmanuel Macron called for a ceasefire in Ukraine in his first call with Russian President Vladimir Putin since 2022.<\/li>\n<li>A Kremlin statement said that Putin reminded Macron that \u201cthe Ukrainian conflict is a direct consequence of the policy of Western states\u201d.<\/li>\n<li>Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters that \u201cno one is delaying anything here\u201d, after US envoy Keith Kellogg accused Russia of \u201cstall[ing] for time\u201d on ceasefire talks, \u201cwhile it bombs civilian targets in Ukraine\u201d.<\/li>\n<li>Peskov added: \u201cWe are naturally in favour of achieving the goals that we are trying to achieve through the special military operation via political and diplomatic means.
