Foo Fighters<\/a> have celebrated their 30th anniversary as a band by sharing new single \u2018Today\u2019s Song\u2019. Check it out below along with a heartfelt message from Dave Grohl<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The US rock giants have spent recent weeks sharing archive material across social media to mark three decades since their formation and debut album in the wake of the demise of Grohl\u2019s past band Nirvana<\/a> with the death of Kurt Cobain<\/a>. This included sharing their short, brutal cover of Minor Threat\u2019s \u2018I Don\u2019t Wanna Hear It<\/a>\u2018, which featured instrumentals recorded 30 years ago and fresh vocals from the frontman.<\/p>\n

Now, they\u2019re dropped a one-off single in the form of traditional Foos arena euphoria \u2018Today\u2019s Song\u2019 \u2013 which sees Grohl in a reflective mood as he sings: \u201cYou know that nothing can prepare you, don\u2019t let this cruel world compare you\u201c. He shared the track with a message looking back on his years with the band and touching on the death of drummer Taylor Hawkins in 2022<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cOver the years, we\u2019ve had moments of unbridled joy, and moments of devastating heartbreak,\u201d said the frontman. \u201cMoments of beautiful victory, and moments of painful defeat. We have mended broken bones and broken hearts. But we have followed this road together, with each other, for each other, no matter what. Because in life, you just can\u2019t go it alone.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

He also went on to comment on previous members \u2013 including the often better former drummer William Goldsmith<\/a> and recently sacked sticksman Josh Freese<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt should go without saying that without the boundless energy of William Goldsmith, the seasoned wisdom of Franz Stahl, and the thunderous wizardry of Josh Freese, this story would be incomplete, so we extend our heartfelt gratitude for the time, music, and memories that we shared with each of them over the years,\u201d he went on. \u201cThank you, gentlemen.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd\u2026 Taylor. Your name is spoken every day, sometimes with tears, sometimes with a smile, but you are still in everything we do, everywhere we go, forever. The enormity of your beautiful soul is only rivalled by the infinite longing we feel in your absence. We all miss you beyond words. Foo Fighters will forever include Taylor Hawkins in every note that we play, until we do finally reach our destination.\u201d<\/p>\n

This comes as Foo Fighters are gearing up for a headline performance at the Singapore F1 Grand Prix concerts<\/a> and\u00a0shows in Jakarta and Japan<\/a> as well as topping the bill at Mexico\u2019s Corona Capital. These will be their first gigs since sacking Freese and since they reportedly cancelled European festival shows<\/a> in the wake of 2024\u2019s controversial news that Grohl had \u201crecently become the father of a new baby daughter, born outside of my marriage\u201d<\/a>.<\/p>\n
