An Audi was turned into a wreckage after being ploughed into railings on a busy main road in Rochdale<\/a> on Tuesday evening (April 15).<\/p>\n Emergency services, including police, paramedics and fire crews, raced to the major collision on Manchester Road, beside the Tesco<\/a> supermarket, at around 7.30pm.<\/p>\n Dramatic pictures from the scene showed the damaged dark coloured Audi A3, with a wheel sent flying into a nearby bus stop.<\/p>\n Join the Manchester Evening News WhatsApp group <\/strong>HERE<\/a><\/p>\n The railings at the roadside had also been badly damaged before the car was sent spinning into the road. Witnesses also said flying debris hit nearby houses in the major collision, which involved the one vehicle.<\/p>\n “Right opposite my house, part of the car hit my next door neighbours window,” one person wrote on social media. As another said the car ‘smashed into the railings’ after being driven at speed.<\/p>\n “My neighbour told me a car part hit his front room window, it’s not smashed but it’s enough to scare you I would imagine,” another local told the M.E.N.<\/p>\n The road was also strewn with parts of the vehicle, and was cordoned off in both directions on Tuesday evening.<\/p>\n The fire service has confirmed that the crash involved one vehicle which had hit ‘street furniture’. Crews worked to make the area safe and left after around 30 minutes.<\/p>\n Police remained at the scene conducting enquiries after the car was towed away from the scene. No further details have been confirmed by Greater Manchester Police.<\/p>\n A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: \u201cShortly after 7:30pm this evening (Tuesday 15 April), two fire engines from Rochdale Community Fire Station was called to attend a road traffic collision involving one vehicle and street furniture on Manchester Road, Rochdale.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cCrews arrived quickly and worked alongside Greater Manchester Police<\/a> to make the area safe.
