Jarell Quansah shared an emotional message for Liverpool<\/a> fans following his confirmed \u00a335million transfer to Bayer Leverkusen, which received a response from Virgil van Dijk<\/a>. The Reds officially confirmed the sale of the centre-back on Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n

The Bundesliga club will pay an initial \u00a330m, with an additional \u00a35million in success-based add-ons. Liverpool have also negotiated a buy-back clause<\/a> for the 22-year-old – reportedly valued at around \u00a351m – which won’t come into effect until 2027, according to German reports.<\/p>\n

Quansah’s departure from Anfield<\/a> marks the end of a 17-year association. The defender joined the club, aged five, in 2008, but he’s now moving on to pastures new.<\/p>\n

After breaking into the first-team in 2023, he made a total of 58 appearances.<\/p>\n

However, last season he featured in just 13 Premier League<\/a> games, starting only four.<\/p>\n

The England Under-21 international was keen to gain more senior playing time elsewhere.<\/p>\n

Quansah underwent a medical on Monday following his European Under-21 Championship win with the Young Lions against Germany in Slovakia on Saturday night.<\/p>\n

Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, he wrote: “From the moment I walked through the doors of the Academy at five-years old, I dreamed of one day wearing the Liverpool shirt at Anfield. 17 years later, I can now say that I have lived that dream.<\/p>\n

“To my teammates, thank you for welcoming me, pushing me, and believing in me.<\/p>\n

“I’ve learned so much from sharing the pitch, and dressing room, with such amazing people and will never forget the incredible memories we’ve had.<\/p>\n

“To staff, the coaches, and everyone behind-the-scenes, your belief and dedication have always been a constant source of motivation.<\/p>\n

“You have helped me grow not only as a footballer, but as a person as well.”And to the fans, your support has always been unmatched. Whether at Anfield or away from home, hearing you sing never failed to inspire me. I will carry that with me wherever I go. Liverpool will always hold a special place in my heart. It’s not just a club – it’s a family! This is goodbye for now, but I’ll always be watching – once a Red, always a Red.”<\/p>\n

In response to Quansah’s post, Van Dijk replied with a simple applause emoji.<\/p>\n
