While all eyes were on Wimbledon<\/a> this week, The Princess of Wales<\/a> made a surprise appearance at Colchester Hospital on Wednesday (2 July). Despite the rain, Kate was all smiles for the visit as she supported a cause close to her heart.<\/p>\n

For the outing, The Princess wore a striped shirt and blazer combo over straight-leg trousers, and added her favourite pair of trainers. Kate’s ‘goes-with-everything shoes’ are the white Veja trainers with rose gold accents, which she regularly wears to events. <\/p>\n

Kate was in Colchester to visit the RHS’s Wellbeing Garden at the hospital, where 50 ‘Catherine’s Rose’ plants were donated. The rose is named in honour of The Princess of Wales, and funds from the sales go towards the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. The Royal Marsden Hospital is where the Princess has received treatment herself, making it a cause close to her heart. <\/p>\n

During her visit, Kate wasn’t afraid to get her hands dirty, and got stuck in as she helped plant some of the roses. The colour of the rose is described as ‘mid to dark Rose Pink’ and the scent will ‘transport you to happy childhood memories’ with its ‘rich strong rose perfume, with hints of Mango,’ according to the RHS.<\/p>\n

Last week, members of the Royal Family came together for Royal Ascot<\/a>, but The Princess didn’t attend this year as had originally been planned. In the days before Ascot, she’d attended the Order of the Garter as well as the Trooping of the Colour events, and took a break from public appearances while other family members arrived at the racecourse. <\/p>\n

Kate’s mum Carole Middleton and sister-in-law Alizee Thevenet, however, did attend, and they appeared to be having a wonderful time at the event with members of the Royal Family and other guests.<\/p>\n
