{"id":233487,"date":"2025-07-03T01:47:14","date_gmt":"2025-07-03T01:47:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/233487\/"},"modified":"2025-07-03T01:47:14","modified_gmt":"2025-07-03T01:47:14","slug":"corries-sally-dynevor-reveals-she-and-husband-tim-are-making-a-huge-change","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/233487\/","title":{"rendered":"Corrie\u2019s Sally Dynevor reveals she and husband Tim are making a huge change"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sally has played Sally Metcalfe on Coronation Street for almost 40 years, admitting she&#8217;s &#8221; not getting the stories that I used to get&#8221; but reveals she and real life husband Tim have bigger ambitions<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/1_GTB-Coronation-Streets-Sally-Dynevor-flooded-with-support-as-she-shares-husband-announcement.jpg\" alt=\"Coronation Street's Sally Dynevor with husband  Tim\" loading=\"eager\"  \/>Coronation Street&#8217;s Sally Dynevor with husband  Tim(Image: Instagram\/ @sallydynevor)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Corrie stalwart Sally Dynevor has an uncanny amount in common with her Weatherfield character &#8211; starting with sharing the same name.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Like Weatherfield\u2019s Sally Metcalfe, she was diagnosed with <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/news\/health\/new-test-could-resistance-cancer-35471842\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">breast cancer <\/a>15 years ago &#8211; so she was going through the experience both on and off screen.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">And like the interfering knicker factory supervisor, who she will have played for four decades next year, she is devoted to her real-life husband, writer and actor Tim Dynevor, 63.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Like Sally and her screen hubby, another Tim (Metcalfe) &#8211; who are considering fostering on the <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/tv\/tv-news\/emmerdales-jayne-griffiths-star-issues-35458731\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">soap <\/a>&#8211; in real life the Dynevors are keen to enjoy new experiences and take on exciting challenges.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Not least because they are both cancer survivors &#8211; after Tim, 63, was diagnosed in 2023 and, thankfully, like Sally, made a full recovery.<\/p>\n<p>READ MORE: <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/3am\/celebrity-news\/i-partied-brad-pitt-harassed-35383608\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Emmerdale star loses 4 stone as lifestyle change reverses major health issue<\/a><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/0_coronation-street-tv-programme.jpg\" alt=\"Sue Jenkins as Gloria Todd, Julie Goodyear as Bet Gilroy, and Sally when she first joined Corrie in 1986 \" loading=\"lazy\"  \/><br \/>\nSue Jenkins as Gloria Todd, Julie Goodyear as Bet Gilroy, and Sally when she first joined Corrie in 1986 (Image: Granada Television)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Determined to make the most of every moment, earlier this year, they enjoyed a dream holiday &#8211; from their \u2018bucket list\u2019 wish list &#8211; to Japan.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cGoing through something like that makes you want to embrace life all the more,\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Sally tells The <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Mirror<\/a>. \u201dWe\u2019d love to do more travelling. We\u2019re trying really hard to just do lots of lovely things while we can.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cYou just don\u2019t know what\u2019s round the corner, do you? That\u2019s why we\u2019ve decided we should do a couple of our bucket list things.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cWe all put stuff off and think \u2018it\u2019s too expensive, I\u2019m not going to do that.\u2019 But we\u2019re in our 60s now and this is the time to be doing these things.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">As Sally, whose storylines over the years have included fights, affairs and even a stint in prison after being wrongly convicted of fraud, fulfils her dreams off-screen, she admits that she is getting fewer of the dramatic Corrie stories these days.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/3_Bridgertons-Phoebe-Dynevor-throws-support-behind-mum-Sally-ahead-of-Dancing-On-Ice-debut.jpg\" alt=\"Sally with her actress daughter Phoebe who starred in Bridgerton\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>Sally with her actress daughter Phoebe who starred in Bridgerton(Image: sallydynevor\/Instagram)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">She says: \u201cObviously, I\u2019m not getting the stories that I used to get, but when I do get a story, I really look forward to doing it and really enjoy it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">But, despite reaching her 60s, she remains an important character and when she is not working, her sense of adventure has increased with age. An avid breast cancer fundraiser, she is planning a daunting week-long trek climbing Mount Kilimanjaro &#8211; the highest mountain in Africa &#8211; in September, alongside her 28 year-old son Sam, a PR, in aid of Prevent Breast Cancer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cI am quite nervous about it,\u201d Sally admits. \u201cWe\u2019re camping in the middle of nowhere and it\u2019s very cold when you get up to the top.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cBut I\u2019m determined and I\u2019m definitely going to do my very best to get to the summit. I know people struggle with altitude sickness, but we\u2019ve got a great guide and I think it\u2019 s important to push yourself out of your comfort zone. Life is exciting when you challenge yourself. It\u2019s a big wide <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/news\/world-news\/\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">world<\/a> out there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/2_THP2898JPG.jpg\" alt=\"Corrie's Sally Dynevor reunites with on-screen daughters and real life daughter Hattie \" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>Corrie&#8217;s Sally Dynevor reunites with on-screen daughters and other  real life daughter Hattie (Image: Instagram)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">On her last major climb to Everest base camp for the charity, in 2019 &#8211; a challenge that raised \u00a3100,000 &#8211; at 5,364 metres Sally was taken ill, with altitude sickness. \u201cIt was tough and I was six years younger then,\u201d she says. \u201cWe walked up to the top of Mount Kawakita during the night, so we could see Everest in the morning. Walking back down I was delirious.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cI didn\u2019t know where I was, I couldn\u2019t breathe properly and every step felt like walking on the moon. I could hear people around me saying: \u2018get her back down,\u2019 \u2018don\u2019t let her go to sleep.\u2019 And all I wanted to do was sleep.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Altitude sickness, which happens when people quickly climb to a place higher than 2,500 metres above sea level, causes symptoms including sickness, exhaustion, confusion, dizziness, sleepiness and shortage of breath and can be life-threatening.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">But Sally &#8211; devoted to fundraising for Prevent Breast Cancer &#8211; is undeterred, saying: \u201cIt\u2019s the only charity in Europe committed solely to predicting and preventing breast cancer.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/0_sallydynevor_1749077178_3647846220485868141_272806281AJPG.jpg\" alt=\"Sally with husband Tim in Japan\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>Sally with husband Tim in Japan (Image: INSTAGRAM \/ Sally Dynevor)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cWe\u2019re currently building a training hospital at the Nightingale Centre where we train radiographers for screenings and mammograms, so they can go and work around the country because there\u2019s a shortage.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cWe need to be preventing these diseases, not living with the consequences when they\u2019ve happened.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009, ironically at the same time that her Corrie character had the disease, Sally had a lumpectomy and six months of chemotherapy before making a full recovery.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">But she says it was also very difficult for her family. She says: \u201cThat\u2019s one of the worst things \u2013 the impact on families. It affects everyone in your circle.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Discussing both herself and Tim getting the all-clear after cancer, she adds: \u201cYou walk out and you just feel so grateful.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cWhile it\u2019s been awful, we look at in a positive way and think \u2018we\u2019ve both been through it now, that\u2019s our blip.\u2019 Hopefully now we\u2019ll live long and happy lives, with nothing more happening to us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/0_Investitures-2022.jpg\" alt=\"Coronation Street actress Sally Dynevor stands with her husband, Tim, after receiving her MBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) at an investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle on February 2, 2022\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>Coronation Street actress Sally Dynevor stands with her husband, Tim, after receiving her MBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) at an investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle on February 2, 2022(Image: Getty Images)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Also parents to Phoebe, 30, and Hattie, 21, who are both actors, Phoebe won a BAFTA Rising Star nomination last year, starred in the first two series of the period drama Bridgerton and is currently filming alongside Jake Gyllenhaal and Ashley Walters in the upcoming film Remain, while Hattie starred in<a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/all-about\/waterloo-road\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\"> Waterloo Road.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Meanwhile, Sally is looking forward to celebrating 40 years on the Cobbles in 2026 &#8211; and she has dropped big hints at her screen daughters making a comeback. She says: \u201cIt\u2019s a very different show now to the show I started in; it\u2019s a much bigger cast, but I still love it and I still get excited.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Still in touch with her Corrie daughters <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/all-about\/helen-flanagan\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Helen Flanagan<\/a> (Rosie) who left the show in 2018, and Brooke Vincent (Sophie) who departed the following year, she says: \u201cI\u2019ve always wanted them to come back, so I\u2019d be thrilled.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cIt would be great if they came back at <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/all-about\/christmas\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Christmas<\/a>, even if it\u2019s just for Christmas Day \u2013 just to have them around the table again would be wonderful. So, I\u2019m hoping that might happen, you never know.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Currently involved in a fostering storyline with Tim, while she is enjoying the plot, there is no danger of her following suit in real life<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">She laughs: \u201cI looked after my niece\u2019s two little boys recently. They\u2019re seven and four and Tim and I were exhausted.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cThey were so much fun, but we\u2019d both forgotten how tiring young children are.
