Benidorm<\/a> boss Derren Litten has confirmed that he is in talks with ITV<\/a> over a possible comeback for the show<\/a>. <\/p>\n

The sitcom ran for 10 seasons and 74 episodes before its finale in 2018, with the plot following various holidaymakers across the years as they venture to the sunny Solana Resort on the titular Spanish tourist resort. <\/p>\n

Nearly seven years on from its final episode<\/a>, rumours of a potential comeback have been rife in recent weeks, and Litten confirmed in a Facebook Live video (via The Sun<\/a>) on Sunday that the speculation isn\u2019t entirely unfounded. <\/p>\n

\u201cSherrie [Hewson, who plays Joyce Temple-Savage] does this rumour every couple of years, and Sherrie says that the show is coming back, and she is not shit-stirring – she is hopeful because she loves the show as much as I do,\u201d said Litten. <\/p>\n

\u201cIf I say ITV have not commissioned a new Benidorm series, it is because ITV have not commissioned a new Benidorm series, up to today. Does it mean they might commission a new series in the near future? Possibly.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cHave I been talking to ITV in the last few months? Yes I have,\u201d he teased. \u201cHave ITV commissioned a special or a series at the moment? No. Might they in the next few weeks [or] couple of months? Yeah they might. They might. <\/p>\n

\u201cSo I hope that gives you [the fans] some hope, and I hope that gives you some idea of where we are,\u201d concluded Litten, who has since created other sitcoms in the form of The Spa and Scarborough. <\/p>\n

Hewson had previously spoken about the possibility of a comeback<\/a> after the show found streaming success on Netflix<\/a>, saying: \u201cI think Benidorm is bigger now than when we were actually on television. People stop me and say, \u2018I’m rewatching Benidorm again.\u2019 <\/p>\n

\u201cIt’s been in the top 10 on Netflix. There’s nothing on telly like it, is there? I call it Carry On funny because it’s a very British sense of humour. I’d definitely go back \u2013 we all loved our time on Benidorm. I say they should make a film out of it.\u201d<\/p>\n
