Vaughan has been one of Salford’s most consistent performers since making the loan move from St Helens in March, making a total of 12 appearances.

He’s scored two tries in that time, too, but hasn’t been on the end of a winning score line, with Salford’s troubles on and off the field being well documented.

However, it seems he may have played his last game for the club, after injuring his shoulder in the 58-0 loss against his parent club. The centre will see a surgeon in the coming days and the expectation is that he will have to have an operation to resolve the issue.

“He’s in with the surgeon next week,” Rowley said in his pre-match press conference ahead of Friday night’s clash with Warrington Wolves. “I think there’s probably quite a bit of damage in there so I think it will probably require surgery so it will be a lengthy lay-off for him unfortunately and unfortunately for us as well.

“He’s been great, he’s been consistent every week and he’s a kid who has played the odd game for St Helens prior to that so physically and everything it will have done him good in his development.

“We appreciate the energy and commitment he’s shown our club in the time he’s been here. We wish him well in his recovery and we stand with him all the way to get back on the field.”

Salford Red Devils boss on Danny Richardson

While Vaughan may have been making his last run out in red on Sunday, Danny Richardson was making his first, with the half-back joining last week on loan from Hull KR.

The deal was for an initial two weeks but asked whether there was scope to extend that loan, Rowley said: “We’ll ask those questions next week.

“It’s always an initial two weeks, with loans it’s a minimum of two weeks and then generally week to week. Hull KR have been fantastic, they’ve been forthcoming in trying to help our club in that respect and we appreciate that. We’ll have those discussions and if it works for them then we’d accept Danny with open arms.”

On his performance against Saints, Rowley added: I thought he was great, particularly in training but we didn’t get to see enough of him in the right areas of the field, possession was low for us so hopefully we get a better chance to give him some quality field position and possession this week and we’ll see more of him.”

Salford Red Devils boss Paul Rowley expects Jonny Vaughan to have to go under the knife after picking…

[4102
4151,79,16,15
0":"post-233816","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-rugby","8":"tag-rugby","9":"tag-sports","10":"tag-uk","11":"tag-united-kingdom
["GET
