SpongeBob fans, rejoice \u2014 one of the character’s games has suddenly arrived on PS5 and PS4.<\/p>\n

A port of SpongeBob: Krusty Cook-Off<\/a> is now available for Sony’s consoles, releasing unceremoniously on 2nd July 2025.<\/p>\n

So, what is this? Well, here’s the extremely brief launch trailer for the Nintendo Switch version:<\/p>\n

Essentially, SpongeBob: Krusty Cook-Off looks like a Bikini Bottom spin on Cook, Serve, Delicious<\/a>. You prepare a variety of food items \u2014 including Krabby Patties of course \u2014 as the orders come flying in.<\/p>\n

As you progress through the game, you’ll visit different locations from the show, unlock new recipes, decorate venues, acquire new outfits, and upgrade equipment. As the official blurb puts it:<\/p>\n

Create your own Bikini Bottom kitchen, decorate and customize your restaurant, and get ready to serve up delicious food to your guests! In this fast-food cooking game, put your time management skills to the test and experience the crazy cooking action of the SpongeBob universe. Fire up the grill and get ready to cook!<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Interestingly, this is a redesigned rendition of what was once a mobile game. The mobile version was free-to-play and laced with microtransactions, but all of that has been scrubbed from the console version, with all content unlockable through progression.<\/p>\n

While no microtransactions makes this a more palatable proposition, the trade-off is it isn’t free; the PlayStation versions will set you back $14.99\/\u00a311.99.<\/p>\n

Reviews for the Switch version are few and far between, and very mixed, so maybe proceed with caution. From where we’re sitting, it looks okay for what it is; if you like Cook, Serve, Delicious or Diner Dash-esque games, this is potentially worth a pop.<\/p>\n
