Pride is back in Liverpool \u2013 and according to charity leader Ant Hopkinson \u2018it\u2019s going to be boss\u2019.<\/p>\n

Ant is chief executive of Sahir House, the city\u2019s LGBTQ+ and HIV charity, which has stepped in to save the event after it was cancelled by original organisers LCR Pride Foundation due to rising costs and a lack of funding.<\/p>\n

He says it\u2019ll happen this year under a new name, Liverpool\u2019s Pride.<\/p>\n

And he adds:<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s going to be boss.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe new name is more than just a change of words. It reflects a shift in ownership, in purpose, and in place.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is Liverpool\u2019s Pride, rooted in our communities and led by and for the people of this city, and built with love, resistance, creativity, and defiance.\u201d<\/p>\n

LCR Pride Foundation had said last month it was \u2018with great sadness\u2019 that the July 26 celebrations and parade would not now go ahead.<\/p>\n

It revealed on its website it was pausing to take a breath after a \u2018myriad\u2019 of stumbling blocks had impacted on the planning of this year\u2019s Pride.<\/p>\n

But Sahir House declared:<\/p>\n

\u201cThanks to the passion, determination and sheer graft of local artists, activists, organisations and allies, we\u2019ve turned things around to make Pride happen.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis year, we\u2019re proudly calling it Liverpool\u2019s Pride \u2013 with an apostrophe and an \u2018s\u2019 \u2013 because this Pride belongs to all of us.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s Liverpool\u2019s moment to come together, celebrate loudly, protest proudly, and reclaim our Pride with love, resilience and joy.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nAnt says:<\/p>\n

\u201cIn a time when LGBTQ+ rights and visibility are under renewed attack, both overtly and insidiously, the need for Pride has never been more urgent.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve faced pushbacks, blocks, dismissal and subtle derision, and sometimes not so subtle homophobia, transphobia, racism and ableism.<\/p>\n

\u201cPride exists because these realities still do. They happen daily, and far too close to home.\u201d<\/p>\n

But he continues:<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve been uplifted by the generosity and spirit of so many local businesses, organisations, creatives and individuals \u2013 incredible support that we\u2019ll be properly acknowledging in due course.\u201d<\/p>\n

Liverpool\u2019s Pride 2025 will include a new march route, a queer arena celebration, activities for young people and families with a youth and family zone, a Pride Quarter party, and more.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019ll be space to gather, to shout, to dance, to remember, and to imagine better.<\/p>\n

\u201cPride is protest. Pride is celebration. Pride is sanctuary. Pride is power.<\/p>\n

\u201cLiverpool\u2019s Pride is happening. And it belongs to all of us.\u201d<\/p>\n
