John Textor could now agree a Sheffield Wednesday takeover deal as he closes in on a Crystal Palace exit.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Textor agreed to sell his Palace stake<\/a>\u00a0to Woody Johnson on 23 June, with the deal believed to be worth around \u00a3190million.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The 59-year-old has moved to sell his shares in a bid to allow Oliver Glasner<\/a>\u2019s side to play in the Europa League next season. <\/p>\n

Textor\u2019s ownership of Lyon has presented a stumbling block after the French side also qualified for the Europa League, with Uefa\u2019s rules prohibiting clubs controlled by the same owners or directors from competing in the same European competition. <\/p>\n

However, Lyon\u2019s relegation to Ligue 2 following their financial issues could help Palace\u2019s chances of playing in the competition. <\/p>\n

Football Insider<\/strong>\u00a0revealed on 2 July\u00a0Textor has now stepped down from his role as a Palace director<\/a>. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Textor also confirmed on 30 June he is stepping down from his leadership roles at Lyon.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The American said he will now focus on his other teams \u2013 Brazilian first division outfit Botafogo and Belgian side RWD Molenbeek \u2013 as well as his \u201cnext club in England\u201d. <\/p>\n

The Star<\/a> reported on 30 June Sheffield Wednesday<\/a> remain on Textor\u2019s radar alongside other Championship clubs. <\/p>\n

Wednesday are currently in a crisis under owner Dejphon Chansiri as pressure grows on him to sell the club, with players and staff not paid on time or in full in either May or June. <\/p>\n

The\u00a0Telegraph<\/a>\u00a0reported on 2 July six players have now handed in their notice after the wages weren\u2019t paid.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Maheta Molango, the head of the Professional Footballers\u2019 Association (PFA), has labelled the situation at Hillsborough \u201cshocking\u201d and \u201cnot tolerable\u201d. <\/p>\n

Meanwhile,\u00a0Wednesday have been hit with a transfer embargo<\/a> for the next three windows\u00a0as the crisis continues to deepen in South Yorkshire. <\/p>\n

Chansiri is understood to be looking for around \u00a3100million to sell the Owls this summer. <\/p>\n

Finance expert Dan Plumley told Football Insider<\/strong> Wednesday are only worth around \u00a370million<\/a> due to their ongoing issues. <\/p>\n

Textor could now move to buy the Owls after leaving his role as a director at Palace and taking a step back at Lyon.\u00a0<\/p>\n

However, there are question marks over whether he\u2019s right for the club and if they are the ideal fit for him, with both parties currently experiencing financial issues.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Wednesday finished 12th in the Championship table under Danny Rohl<\/a> last season. <\/p>\n
