{"id":235168,"date":"2025-07-03T16:34:12","date_gmt":"2025-07-03T16:34:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/235168\/"},"modified":"2025-07-03T16:34:12","modified_gmt":"2025-07-03T16:34:12","slug":"gwyl-cymru-festival-a-cultural-celebration-to-support-cymru-at-euro-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/235168\/","title":{"rendered":"G\u0175yl Cymru Festival &#8211; a cultural celebration to support Cymru at Euro 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/WordmarkAssets-2025-LandscapeLogo-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-27432\"  \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>G\u0175yl Cymru Festival \u2013 a nationwide programme of cultural events has been announced to celebrate and support the Cymru Women\u2019s National Football Team at <a href=\"https:\/\/faw.cymru\/news\/category\/international\/uefa-euro-2025\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">UEFA Women\u2019s Euro 2025<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The community-focused<strong> <\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.faw.cymru\/events\/gwylcymru\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">G\u0175yl Cymru Festival<\/a><strong> <\/strong>will deliver a series of football and cultural events across Wales, timed to coincide with each Cymru match.<\/p>\n<p>Designed to bring people together through<strong> <\/strong>the power of football and Welsh culture, the festival offers a platform for communities to celebrate locally. Live gigs, performances, and creative activities will take place in grassroots venues, from pubs and youth clubs to arts centres and football clubs.<\/p>\n<p>G\u0175yl Cymru Festival aims to unify and amplify the vibrant arts, music, and cultural landscape surrounding Welsh football.<\/p>\n<p>Female-owned events and marketing company Alaw has received support from the Welsh Government\u2019s Euro 2025 Partner Support Fund to deliver the project, in collaboration with the Football Association of Wales.<\/p>\n<p>Jack Sargeant MS, Minister for Sport and Culture, said: \u201cThe G\u0175yl Cymru Festival will represent the best aspects of Cymru \u2013 a vibrant celebration that brings together our passion for sport, culture and community. This historic qualification for UEFA Women\u2019s Euro 2025 is about more than football \u2013 it\u2019s about showcasing Welsh talent and pride on an international stage.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy supporting this festival \u2013 funded through the Welsh Government\u2019s \u00a31m Euro 2025 Partner Support Fund \u2013 we\u2019re ensuring communities across Wales can participate in this momentous occasion, regardless of whether they can attend matches in person. From music and art to community watch parties, these events will create lasting memories while championing equality in sport.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A Football Association of Wales (FAW) spokesperson said: \u201cThe FAW is proud to support the return of G\u0175yl Cymru Festival this summer, marking Cymru\u2019s participation in a major women\u2019s tournament for the very first time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThrough G\u0175yl Cymru, communities across Wales will come together to celebrate both this sporting achievement and the incredible artists and creative spirit that define our nation. By championing grassroots venues and inclusive events, the festival reflects everything we believe football can be, welcoming, unifying, and deeply rooted in Wales\u2019 unique cultural identity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are grateful to Alaw for their vision and dedication in delivering such an inspiring programme of events, funded by the Welsh Government\u2019s EURO 2025 Partner Support Fund. G\u0175yl Cymru will help ensure this historic moment creates a lasting legacy of inclusion, creativity, and national pride that lives on far beyond the tournament.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Copyright-Hawlfraint-FAW-CBDC-4-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-27294\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>A spokesperson from Neuadd Ogwen, one of the venues hosting a G\u0175yl Cymru events, added: \u201cAfter hosting our first G\u0175yl Cymru events during the World Cup campaign in 2022, to be able to continue the collaboration with the Football Association of Wales by hosting further G\u0175yl Cymru events to celebrate the Cymru Womens team\u2019s campaign in Euro 2025 is a special experience and opportunity for both Neuadd Ogwen as an organization and the community of Bethesda.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was a pleasure and an honour to be able to host the first of many G\u0175yl Cymru 2025 events in Neuadd Ogwen following the squad announcement on Yr Wyddfa on 19 June. There is no doubt that the Q&amp;A between Rhian Wilkinson and Nicky John inspired everyone present, and Adwaith\u2019s energetic performance crowned a great day of celebrating Cymru\u2019s success.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEveryone here at Neuadd Ogwen wishes Cymru the very best of luck on their adventure to Switzerland, as the Wal Goch of Bethesda prepares to cheer them on at home.
