{"id":236096,"date":"2025-07-04T00:44:10","date_gmt":"2025-07-04T00:44:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/236096\/"},"modified":"2025-07-04T00:44:10","modified_gmt":"2025-07-04T00:44:10","slug":"im-being-paid-to-fix-issues-caused-by-ai","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/236096\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;I&#8217;m being paid to fix issues caused by AI&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">However, some businesses are rushing in, and as Ms Skidd shows, it can often create more work and costs than originally intended.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Certainly, that&#8217;s the experience of Sophie Warner, co-owner of Create Designs, a digital marketing agency in Hampshire in the UK.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">In the last six to eight months, she seen a surge in requests for help from clients who have turned to AI for a quick fix, but have run into problems.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;Before clients would message us if they were having issues with their site or wanted to introduce new functionality,&#8221; says Ms Warner. &#8220;Now they are going to ChatGPT first.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Ms Warner says this has led to clients adding code to their website that has been suggested by ChatGPT. This, she says, has resulted in websites crashing and clients becoming vulnerable to hackers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">She points to one client who, instead of manually updating their event page, which she says would have taken 15 minutes, instead turned to ChatGPT for easier instructions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The error ultimately &#8220;cost them about \u00a3360 and their business was down for three days&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Ms Warner says it also happens to larger clients too.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;We are spending more time educating clients on the consequences [of using AI]. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;We often have to charge an investigation fee to find out what has gone wrong, as they don&#8217;t want to admit it, and the process of correcting these mistakes takes much longer than if professionals had been consulted from the beginning.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Prof Feng Li, associate dean for research and innovation at Bayes Business School, says some businesses are too optimistic about what current AI tools can do.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">He points out that AI is known to hallucinate &#8211; to generate content that is irrelevant, made-up, or inconsistent.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;Human oversight is essential,&#8221; he says.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;We&#8217;ve seen companies generate low-quality website content or implement faulty code that breaks critical systems.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;Poor implementation can lead to reputational damage and unexpected costs \u2013 and even significant liabilities, often requiring rework by professionals.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"However, some businesses are rushing in, and as Ms Skidd shows, it can often create more work and&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":236097,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[3163],"tags":[323,1942,53,16,15],"class_list":{"0":"post-236096","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-artificial-intelligence","8":"tag-ai","9":"tag-artificial-intelligence","10":"tag-technology","11":"tag-uk","12":"tag-united-kingdom"},"share_on_mastodon":{"url":"https:\/\/pubeurope.com\/@uk\/114792199832071186","error":""},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/236096","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=236096"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/236096\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/236097"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=236096"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=236096"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=236096"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
