It\u2019s been a nightmare summer for Sheffield Wednesday and after a relatively positive year on the pitch, the off-field situation has left the club battered and bruised.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Barry Bannan is now a free agent<\/a>, while several Owls players have been training individually<\/a> ahead of the new season, with just over a month to go until the first Championship games of 2025\/26<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Senior members of the squad have been told by Danny Rohl that he will leave the South Yorkshire outfit<\/a> this summer and Dejphon Chansiri has plunged the club into a three-window transfer ban<\/a> after failing to pay players in both May and June.<\/p>\n

Several players have handed in their notice at Sheffield Wednesday<\/a> and the chances of the Owls avoiding relegation are looking slim. However, in a new interview, one key star from last season has spoken about how much he enjoyed his time in S6.<\/p>\n

Shea Charles looks back on Sheffield Wednesday loan<\/p>\n

Shea Charles was excellent at Hillsborough in 2024\/25, and after joining on loan from Southampton, he played 43 times in a variety of positions.<\/p>\n

The 21-year-old has returned to the Saints and looks as though he will be a regular for Will Still next season. Nevertheless, the former Manchester City youngster has spoken out on his time with Sheffield Wednesday.<\/p>\n

He said (via: Southampton\u2019s club media<\/a>): \u201cGoing there the plan was to play games at Championship level with a good coaching staff, a good manager and good players around me with a lot of experience.<\/p>\n

\u201cI felt it went better than I could have even imagined. I played every game and the players around me helped me in every game. I got better and I could feel it towards the end. Every game I felt like I was into the games more. It was very good.\u201d<\/p>\n

Shea Charles deserves a chance to shine at Southampton<\/p>\n

After going out on loan following the Saints\u2019 promotion to the Premier League, Charles must be given the opportunity to feature for the club in the Championship, especially following a record-breaking relegation for the Saints<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Able to play in both defensive midfield and at centre-back, this versatility should make the Northern Ireland international a real standout for Will Still.<\/p>\n

However, for Sheffield Wednesday<\/a> and their supporters, they will be gutted that they will not get the chance to watch Charles in a blue-and-white striped shirt again next season.
