Yungblud<\/strong>, the English pop-rock singer\/songwriter, was spotted in Asha\u2019s<\/strong> last night (Wednesday, July 2). It was his third time visiting the popular Indian restaurant<\/a>, although it\u2019s unclear why he was in town. He\u2019s not due to perform in Birmingham until next year (April 23, 2026) at Utilita Arena. Maybe he just loves a curry?<\/p>\n

But Yungblud is just one of a handful of celebrity fans of Asha\u2019s<\/strong>. Last year (May 6, 2024), Jack Black<\/strong> was also spotted on Newhall Street visiting Asha\u2019s, and a year before that (June 12, 2023), Pink<\/strong> also ate at the Michelin Guide-approved Indian. At her show at Villa Park, she even shouted to thousands of fans, \u201cWe\u2019re having so much fun. I had the best Indian food of my life last night!\u201d<\/p>\n

Probably the biggest star to visit still is Tom Cruise<\/strong>, who, while taking a break from filming Mission: Impossible \u2013 Dead Reckoning, stepped into the Indian and ordered TWO tikkas<\/strong>, washing them down with legendary Birmingham water<\/a>, of course. Plenty more celebrities have also passed through, including John Malkovich, Amir Khan and The Rolling Stones<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Well, firstly, there\u2019s the restaurant itself, which is a great representation of Birmingham and its love of curry<\/strong>. The MICHELIN Guide<\/a> describes it as \u201ca stylish, passionately run Indian restaurant with exotic d\u00e9cor.\u201d Serving flavours from the entirety of the Indian subcontinent<\/strong>, Asha\u2019s offers authentic dishes from Chandni Chowk Ka Kheema to Muscat Gosht, Lamb Saffron Biryani to Tandoori Kebabs.<\/p>\n

But another reason for its draw might be connected to its owner and namesake, Asha Bhosle<\/strong>. As a famous playback singer, Bollywood actress and television personality<\/strong>, she is very much a celebrity in her own right back home in India. So, we\u2019d like to hazard a guess that she might know a thing or two about accommodating the celebrity lifestyle.<\/p>\n

Particularly, Asha\u2019s features exclusive dining rooms and booths<\/strong> where you can have private dinners. Privacy is key when you\u2019re a celebrity, and the likes of Ed Sheeran, Jaykae, The Rolling Stones, Cliff Richard and Steven Gerrard<\/strong> all took advantage of this. But we should mention that Tom Cruise chose to sit in the middle of the restaurant among us normals when he dined!<\/p>\n
