After that, signing new legal contracts would be \u201cin theory very, very easy,\u201d he said. While the new owner would still have to convince other shareholders and suppliers that they would not be hurt by future sanctions, it\u2019s largely \u201ca political matter,\u201d Fedke added.<\/p>\n

The story is similar for Nord Stream. European backers of the pipelines, which lie shattered deep under the Baltic Sea, have demanded that Russia\u2019s Gazprom<\/a> iron out its legal disputes before revival talk seriously begins. Germany\u2019s regulator must also approve the flow of Moscow\u2019s gas.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cAssuming there\u2019s political will,\u201d said Stern, the gas expert, that signoff can be done overnight, he said.
