Sunderland and Leeds United are heading up a queue interested in signing ex-Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin.<\/p>\n

The Black Cats<\/a> are reportedly among several clubs chasing the free agent who confirmed his departure from Everton on Sunday after nine years on Merseyside.<\/p>\n

The 28-year-old is also said to be attracting the attention of Celtic, while other Premier League sides and clubs overseas are expected to explore a move for the former England international.<\/p>\n

Calvert-Lewin made 26 appearances in all competitions for Everton last season but started just 13 league games as he battled back from a series of injury setbacks.<\/p>\n

Despite limited minutes, the forward remains eager to continue playing in the top flight.<\/p>\n

Sunderland are back in the Premier League and have launched a new merch line to celebrate their return to the top flight including t-shirts, hoodies, framed prints and more.<\/p>\n

His most prolific campaign came in 2020\/21, when he scored 16 goals in 33 Premier League appearances and earned a spot in Gareth Southgate\u2019s England <\/a>squad for the delayed European Championship, which ended in a final defeat to Italy at Wembley.<\/p>\n

The Sheffield-born forward, who started his career at Sheffield United before joining Everton for \u00a31.5million in 2016, scored 71 goals in 274 appearances for the Toffees across nine seasons.<\/p>\n

In a statement posted on Instagram, Calvert-Lewin said: \u201cAfter nine remarkable years, I\u2019ve made the incredibly difficult decision, together with my family, to begin a new chapter in my career.<\/p>\n

“Everton has been my home since I was 19 years old. It\u2019s the place that saw potential in me, challenged me to grow and shaped me both as a footballer and as a man.\u201d<\/p>\n

Calvert-Lewin also paid tribute to the managers and coaches who helped guide him through his career.<\/p>\n

With Sunderland<\/a> searching for attacking reinforcements ahead of their Premier League return \u2013 and a push to add top-flight experience to R\u00e9gis Le Bris\u2019 squad already under way \u2013 Calvert-Lewin\u2019s availability could be of major interest to sporting director Kristjaan Speakman and new recruitment chief Florent Ghisolfi.<\/p>\n
