Singer and actress Alexandra Burke has shared her thoughts on the potential for an X Factor re-boot whilst speaking exclusively to GB News.<\/p>\n

The 36-year-old found fame on the show back in 2008 when she won the series, launching her singing career before becoming a runner-up on Strictly and taking on acting roles.<\/p>\n

The X Factor has faced ongoing backlash since it ended in 2018, with reports of “exploitation” coming from several former stars.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the National Film Awards on Wednesday, Burke addressed the show and shared her own thoughts on the controversy.<\/p>\n

“I actually think it could come back,” she told this publication when asked about rumours of a re-boot.<\/p>\n

The Bad Boys hit-maker added: “I don’t see why it shouldn’t. I mean, I was on it 16 years ago, and I loved my time on there, but I don’t see why it shouldn’t come back.<\/p>\n

“Because people loved the show. I think shows like that are a great platform for people and gave a platform to me, yeah, so I’m all about, you know, X Factor, Britain’s Got Talent, The Voice, things that give people a platform to shine.”<\/p>\n

There has been a lot of speculation in recent years about the potential for the X Factor to return to screens.<\/p>\n

However, Simon Cowell and other show bosses have faced criticism for their treatment of stars on the show.<\/p>\n

Particularly in the wake of Liam Payne’s tragic death last year, many stars opened up about their negative experiences, blasting Cowell for “exploiting” the hopeful singers.<\/p>\n

Katie Waissel, who made it to the final of the show in 2010, said on X last year following the death of Payne, 31<\/a>: “My heart is completely torn to shreds right now, I am at an absolute loss for words.<\/p>\n

“If Simon Cowell dare put a statement out on the heart wrenching, tragic loss of my dear and darling friend Liam, he would be a fool.”<\/p>\n

“We all know the truth\u2026 and I\u2019ll be sure it all comes out. #justiceforliam,” she cryptically ended her statement.<\/p>\n

2012 star Rebecca Ferguson<\/a> made similar remarks about her stint on the reality show.<\/p>\n

She wrote: “It\u2019s always a hotel room! We both met at Euston station and shared the taxi together to X factor, young, innocent and unaffected by fame.<\/p>\n

“I can\u2019t help but think of that boy who was hopeful and looking forward to his bright future ahead. If he hadn\u2019t jumped on that train and jumped in that taxi I believe he would be alive today.<\/p>\n

“I\u2019ve spoken for years about the exploitation and profiteering of young stars and the effects \u2013 many of us are still living with the aftermath and the PTSD.<\/p>\n

“Many of us are devastated and reflective today as it has finally taken its first victim. Rest in Peace Liam, I hope you find peace on the other side and love to your mum and family x.” (sic)<\/p>\n

GB News contacted Cowell’s representatives for comment at the time.<\/p>\n

Speaking to GB News last year, 2017 finalist Talia Dean shared<\/a>: “I did see things,” as she addressed the backlash.<\/p>\n

“It’s difficult, isn’t it, because I was treated really well,” Dean told this publication when asked about the recent controversies about the Simon Cowell-led talent show, which aired from 2004 to 2018.<\/p>\n

“But I’m very aware that I was one of the lucky ones,” she admitted.<\/p>\n

“I feel blessed by that, because you know, I got brought to the finals.<\/p>\n

“I was very liked.
