A man is still fighting for his life in hospital after a suspected hit and run in Huyton last month. <\/a>Just after 6.30pm on Monday, June 16, Merseyside Police were called to Princess Drive in Huyton<\/a> following a suspected hit and run.<\/p>\n Police received a report that a pedal cyclist and a Sur-Ron bike had crashed on Princess Drive. The man on the Sur-ron bike then rode off, police said at the time<\/a>. Police have now confirmed a man in is 40s on a pedal bike and a 29-year-old man on an electrically assisted bike, both from Huyton, crashed.<\/p>\n The pedal cyclist was taken to hospital, where he remains in a critical but stable condition. The 29-year-old man was arrested,<\/a> on Wednesday, June 18, on suspicion of Section 18 wounding with intent, driving a vehicle dangerously, and driver of a vehicle fail to stop after a road accident and released on bail pending further investigation.<\/p>\n Witnesses told the ECHO at the time<\/a> how nine police vehicles were spotted at the scene and an air ambulance was seen landing nearby. Road closures were put in place along Princess Drive and Gretton Road while emergency services dealt with the incident.<\/p>\n Merseyside Police<\/a> are continuing to appeal for witnesses following the crash. Detective Sergeant Andy Roper said: \u201cThis was a serious collision which has left a man in hospital and we are continuing with our enquiries and urge anyone who has information about the incident, who we haven\u2019t already spoken to, to please contact us as it may prove vital to the investigation.<\/p>\n \u201cAlso anyone with CCTV, doorbell footage or dashcam systems in the area please check them for the events leading up to the collision or the moments after. Any help we receive, no matter how insignificant it may seem, could assist with enquiries.<\/p>\n Detective Sergeant Andy Roper added: \u201cWe would like to assure the community that we are working hard to disrupt and arrest offenders involved in the illegal and anti-social use of electric bikes.<\/p>\n \u201cOfficers actively patrol area\u2019s where we receive reports of electric bikes causing anti-social behaviour or committing crime in the area.<\/p>\n \u201cIt is with community support and the information provided by them that we can take action and encourage anyone with information or sighting of people illegally using them to please contact us, as we understand harm it can cause in our communities.\u201d<\/p>\n Anyone with information should contact Merseyside Police Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 0151 777 5747 quoting incident reference 25000494295.<\/p>\n Alternatively contact the social media desk via X @MerPolCC or on Facebook<\/a> \u2018Merseyside Police Contact Centre\u2019.
