Loose Women veteran Coleen Nolan has opened up about the ‘devastating’ impact of the changes at ITV, saying many of the crew ‘have become family’ to her<\/p>\n

Loose Women\u2019s Coleen Nolan <\/a>has described the upcoming changes and cuts at ITV<\/a> as “devastating” with staff members currently living in limbo. The channel recently announced a raft of changes<\/a> to its daytime schedules, including slashing the daytime panel show down to 30 weeks a year <\/a>and merging the teams working on Lorraine, Loose Women<\/a> and This Morning<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Now Coleen, who celebrated 25 years on the show this year<\/a>, has expressed her devastation and fears about what will become of the show\u2019s behind-the-scenes staff once the changes come into force. \u201cThe crew have become family. I\u2019ve watched them grow,\u201d she said. \u201cSome of our runners from back in the day are producers, married with kids. I\u2019ve shared my life with them. They\u2019re in limbo, not knowing what they\u2019re going to do.”<\/p>\n

She continued, \u201cLoose Women isn\u2019t ending, which I\u2019m so thankful for, but it\u2019s changing. It\u2019s going to be very different in the respect of the size of the crew, but it\u2019s still running. Which it should be \u2013 there isn\u2019t another show that celebrates and supports all women of every size, age, whatever. But it\u2019s heartbreaking to see some of my colleagues not knowing what they\u2019re going to do. Many of them have young families and mortgages.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sources previously told the Mirror<\/a> there wouldn\u2019t be any \u201cradical changes\u201d <\/a>to the Loose Women panel, but there are expected to be a number of redundancies in the behind-the-scenes crew.<\/p>\n

Lorraine Kelly\u2019s daily show is also being cut to 30 minutes each day<\/a> and to 30 weeks of the year, with Good Morning Britain<\/a> running until 9.30am to fill the time. GMB<\/a> will also be extended until 10am on the weeks Lorraine is off air entirely.<\/p>\n

Coleen, 60, joined the series in 2000, joining Jane Moore<\/a>, Kaye Adams, Nadia Sawalha and Ruth Langsford<\/a>, and told Mirror’s Notebook magazine she had never experienced anything like the current changes.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou read about it all the time \u2013 a chain store\u2019s shutting down and 300 people are affected,\u201d she said. \u201cYou go, \u2018Oh that\u2019s awful. Anyway, what do you want for dinner?\u2019, because it doesn\u2019t directly affect you.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve never been so close to it. It\u2019s made me realise how much this is happening across the whole country at the moment and it\u2019s devastating.\u201d<\/p>\n

On announcing the changes, Kevin Lygo, Managing Director of ITV\u2019s Media and Entertainment Division, said the channel\u2019s daytime slate was \u201ca really important part of what we do\u201d and would \u201cenable us to continue to deliver a schedule providing viewers with the news, debate and discussion they love from the presenters they and trust\u201d.<\/p>\n
