The PSNI has charged a woman with the murder of Patrick \u2018Paddy\u2019 Douglas in Ballymoney.<\/p>\n

Mr Douglas died following a house fire in the Main Street area of the town on Tuesday morning.<\/p>\n

The 55-year-old was rushed to hospital but later died of his injuries.<\/p>\n

A woman was subsequently arrested on suspicion of murder.<\/p>\n

On Friday evening detectives from the PSNI\u2019s Major Investigation Team announced that a 34-year-old woman had been charged with murder.<\/p>\n

She is expected to appear before Ballymena Magistrates Court on Saturday, July 5.<\/p>\n

As is normal procedure, all charges are reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, a fire broke out around 7am which was attended to by police alongside Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service crews.<\/p>\n

Paramedics were also called to the scene to transport Mr Douglas to hospital where he passed away.<\/p>\n

DUP Councillor Darryl Wilson said the entire community was left \u201cdeeply saddened\u201d by the tragic death.<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cOur heartfelt condolences go out to Paddy\u2019s family and loved ones at this incredibly difficult time.\u201d <\/p>\n

Sinn F\u00e9in MLA Philip McGuigan also extended his sympathies to family and friends of Mr Douglas.<\/p>\n

Tributes poured in for Mr Douglas with members of the local community saying he was a \u201cwell-known character\u201d who would be missed by everyone in the town.<\/p>\n

One man posted: \u201cI’m saddened with this news, he was a good man with a heart of gold.
