{"id":23827,"date":"2025-04-16T04:29:13","date_gmt":"2025-04-16T04:29:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/23827\/"},"modified":"2025-04-16T04:29:13","modified_gmt":"2025-04-16T04:29:13","slug":"twelve-jailed-after-class-a-and-b-drug-probe-in-south-wales","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/23827\/","title":{"rendered":"Twelve Jailed After Class A and B Drug Probe in South Wales"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Twelve men have been jailed following an investigation into an organised crime group (OCG) based in Swansea.<\/p>\n<p>Operation Shelduck, conducted by the Swansea, Neath and Port Talbot Organised Crime Team to investigate the supply of Class A and B drugs, was commenced following the arrest of Abdul Mozid for an unrelated drugs offence in November 2023.<\/p>\n<p>A mobile phone in Mozid\u2019s possession at the time of his arrest contained evidence to show he was the principal member of a large-scale conspiracy to supply controlled drugs including cocaine, MDMA, cannabis and ketamine.<\/p>\n<p>Mozid was directing the large-scale supply of Class A and B drugs not only into Swansea, but also areas including Pyle, Cardiff, Carmarthen and Bristol, with evidence showing a substantial supply network.<\/p>\n<p>The OCG utilised several encrypted chat platforms including Telegram, Signal, WhatsApp and Snapchat. These platforms allow the user to utilise \u201chandles\u201d or usernames instead of providing personal information. By using these sites, members of the OCG were attempting to evade law enforcement by ensuring their anonymity. However, nine men were able to be attributed to usernames which had engaged in messaging regarding the OCG\u2019s drug supply.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the men \u2013 Ruhel Chowdhury, Mohammed Hanif Miah, Moinul Islam and Mohammed Robbani \u2013 were identified as working alongside Mozid in the OCG\u2019s operation. Other men \u2013 Levi Edwards, Bryan Clark, Mohammed Rahman and Diamant Halili \u2013 were identified as \u201crunning\u201d or delivering drugs for the OCG.<\/p>\n<p>Several bulk customers were also identified has having received substantial quantities of controlled drugs from the OCG. These \u2013 Mohammed Jubair Uddin, Abul Hushain and Jamshed Khan \u2013 were arrested separately to the main nine defendants and have already been sentenced due to entering guilty pleas. All were proven to be large scale customers of the OCG who were in turn running their own drug supply operations.<\/p>\n<p>A premises on Finsbury Terrace, Brynmill, Swansea was being used by the OCG as a \u2018safe house\u2019. Substantial quantities of\u00a0Class A and B drugs as well as cash were found during a warrant at the address:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Over \u00a345,000 cash seized<\/li>\n<li>\u00a344,000 cash restrained (POCA)<\/li>\n<li>\u00a312,000 cryptocurrency restrained (POCA)<\/li>\n<li>6.2 kilograms of cocaine<\/li>\n<li>31.5 grams of crack cocaine<\/li>\n<li>228 grams of MDMA powder<\/li>\n<li>970 MDMA tablets<\/li>\n<li>2.3 kilograms of ketamine<\/li>\n<li>8 kilograms of cannabis<\/li>\n<li>2.4 kilograms of mixing agent<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All defendants entered guilty pleas and were sentenced in April 2025:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Abdul Mozid \u2013 10 years, eight months\u2019 imprisonment<\/li>\n<li>Mohammed Hanif Miah \u2013 10 years, six months\u2019 imprisonment<\/li>\n<li>Ruhel Chowdhury \u2013 nine years\u2019 imprisonment<\/li>\n<li>Moinul Islam \u2013 seven years\u2019 imprisonment<\/li>\n<li>Mohammed Robbani \u2013 four years, five months\u2019 imprisonment<\/li>\n<li>Diamant Halili \u2013 four years, nine months\u2019 imprisonment<\/li>\n<li>Levi Edwards \u2013 three years, nine months\u2019 imprisonment<\/li>\n<li>Bryan Clarke \u2013 three years, nine months\u2019 imprisonment<\/li>\n<li>Mohammed Rahman \u2013 three years, nine months\u2019 imprisonment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The following three defendants were shown to be bulk customers of the OCG and running their own drug supply operation and have already been sentenced:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Jamshed Khan \u2013 three years\u2019 imprisonment<\/li>\n<li>Mohammed Jubair Uddin \u2013 four years\u2019 imprisonment<\/li>\n<li>Abul Hushain\u2013 six years, five months\u2019 imprisonment and 62-month driving ban<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Detective Sergeant Ian Foster said: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cOperation Shelduck has seen a deeply complex investigation into a group of men who cared about nothing other than profiting from the supply of drugs into our communities.<br \/>\u201cLike many others before them who have thought similarly, this has not paid off for them, and they are now embarking on significant terms in prison.<br \/>\u201cI would like to acknowledge the work of the Scene of Crime Officers (SOCOs), the Joint Scientific Investigation Unit (JSIU), the COMU for all Comms applications, the analyst and the financial investigator.<br \/>\u201cAlso, the work of the Neighbourhood Policing Team, the Territorial Support Team, the Organised Crime Team and the Specials for the day of the warrants was of utmost importance to the investigation.<br \/>\u201cI would also like to highlight the work of the officer in case, PC Owen Smith, who was instrumental in securing these sentences for all those involved in this OCG.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Twelve men have been jailed following an investigation into an organised crime group (OCG) based in Swansea.
