Emma Raducanu has been knocked out of Wimbledon as she was beaten in straight sets by Aryna Sabalenka. <\/strong><\/p>\n

The British No.1<\/a> fought hard against the World No.1, but in the end, she fell to a 7-6, 6-4 defeat on Centre Court.<\/p>\n

It means Raducanu heads home in the third round of the Grand Slam, while Sabalenka<\/a> has emulated an icon. <\/p>\n

The Belarusian is the first player to reach to fourth round for 11+ consecutive Women\u2019s Grand Slam appearances since Serena Williams<\/a>.<\/p>\n

On top of that, she is also now the first player to make the last 16 in all their first three Women\u2019s Grand Slam appearances as World No. 1 since Ashleigh Barty.<\/p>\n

Raducanu was defeated after a blockbuster opening set that lasted well over an hour, with the pair battling to an incredible tie-break. <\/p>\n

It came after Raducanu saved seven set points before then missing the chance herself to win the first of the match. <\/p>\n

That left Sabalenka to come out on top, with a crucial tie-break win. <\/p>\n

Since 2000, only Elena Rybakina (16) has won more tie breaks in WTA-level events than her this season (15) in an entire calendar year.<\/p>\n

The pair then fought into a second set and Raducanu appeared to have claimed all of the momentum. <\/p>\n

She moved 4-1 ahead and had the home crowd behind her at Wimbledon<\/a>, but things changed rapidly. <\/p>\n

Sabalenka would win the next five games in a row, turning on her dominant form that makes her one of the world’s best. <\/p>\n

The Belarusian had three match points and claimed victory on the second on Centre Court. <\/p>\n

Raducanu being knocked out at SW19 in the third round continues her unwanted streak of never making it past the fourth round at her home Grand Slam. <\/p>\n

It was still an impressive evening for the 22-year-old though, with Sabalenka praising her opponent in her on-court interview. <\/p>\n

She said: \u201cShe [Raducanu] played such incredible tennis and it was so incredibly hard to get this win. I fought for every point like crazy.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cSuper happy with the win, happy to see her healthy and back on track and I\u2019m pretty sure that she\u2019s going to be back in top 10.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Sabalenka continued, saying to the crowd: \u201cWow, what an atmosphere.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cMy ears are still hurting, honestly, it was super loud. I was pretending\u2026every time you were cheering her, I was just trying to pretend they were cheering for you!\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

She then added: \u201cI had a lot of experience in the past where I completely lost myself, but today I kept telling myself not to do the same mistake.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI was trying to stay calm and push myself to the limits.<\/p>\n

\u201cEmma was playing incredible tennis, she was making me move a lot, she was serving well and from the baseline she was playing great tennis.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI tried to stay focused and try to put all of the pressure on her.\u201d<\/p>\n
