The trilogy fight between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano is nearly upon us. Taylor vs. Serrano 3 headlines an all-women\u2019s fight card at Madison Square Garden on Friday, July 11. Taylor\u2019s undisputed super lightweight title will be at stake in the main event. In total six title fights will take place on the boxing fight card, which streams live on Netflix.<\/p>\n

(Photo by Sarah Stier\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n Getty Images<\/p>\n “We\u2019re going to go out there and we\u2019re going to put it all on the line this fight so you\u2019re going to see who the true champion is July 11,” Serrano said at the pre-fight press conference.<\/a><\/p>\n “(Taylor) has to prove to everybody and to herself that she beat me convincingly, both those fights, and I need to go out there and prove to those judges, like, ‘Come on, what are you watching?'”<\/p>\n “If you look at the fights you can clearly see that I won those fights,” said Taylor. “It’s really, really insane that she thinks she won those fights.”<\/p>\n The fight, which headlines an all-women\u2019s card is currently scheduled to be contested over 10 two minute rounds, something that Serrano was not happy with.<\/p>\n “First of all, we shook on it,” Serrano said of the fight being three minute rounds. “She didn’t agree when we went to sign the contract.”<\/p>\n “I think as a matter of principle that the challenger shouldn\u2019t be dictating the terms of the fight,” Taylor said in reply. “I am 2-0 here and I\u2019m in the driver’s seat here and that’s only right. At the end of the day Amanda needs this fight a lot more than I do. I have a long history of big fights against big names and a line of people queuing up to fight me for the payday.”<\/p>\n Katie Taylor Vs. Those odds have flipped. Our first two fights were Fight of the Year contenders, and I am hoping this fight is as exciting,” Taylor told Fox News.<\/a> “Just for my own sake, I am hoping I can beat her a bit more easily. But just to showcase female fight night at its best, it\u2019s huge for the sport. It is going to be an amazing moment for women\u2019s sports on that night.”<\/p>\n “I definitely don\u2019t need to do this \u2014 she definitely needs this fight a lot more than I do,” Taylor added.<\/p>\n “I just want to be involved in the biggest fights possible. I realized after the second fight this still was the biggest fight in women\u2019s boxing,” Taylor continued. “And to fight live on Netflix and have a chance to headline it again, this is going to be another historic night. In a tightly contested bout, Taylor edged out<\/a> Serrano via split decision, taking two card 97-93 and 96-93, while the third went 96-94 for Serrano.<\/p>\n ESPN voted the fight the \u201cWomen\u2019s fight of the Year\u201d for 2022.<\/p>\n
