He was 56 and died after a battle with cancer.<\/p>\n<p>His death was confirmed through the official \u201cNip\/Tuck\u201d<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/NipTuckTV?mibextid=wwXIfr\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Facebook page;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \"> Facebook page<\/a>. The remembrance post read, \u201cWarner Bros. Television mourns the loss of our friend Julian McMahon. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, colleagues, and fans.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>More from Variety<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat shocking news,\u201d Dick Wolf, producer of \u201cFBI: Most Wanted,\u201d said in a statement. \u201cAll of us at Wolf Entertainment are deeply saddened by Julian\u2019s passing and our condolences go out to his entire family.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>McMahon got his start on a string of Australian TV soaps, including \u201cThe Power, the Passion\u201d and \u201cHome and Away.\u201d He made his film debut playing a lifeguard in the 1992 comedy \u201cWet and Wild Summer,\u201d co-starring with Elliott Gould and Christopher Atkins.<\/p>\n<p>One of McMahon\u2019s first American TV jobs was a 22-episode arc on the NBC soap opera \u201cAnother World.\u201d He then landed a recurring role on another NBC program, \u201cProfiler,\u201d before breaking out as Cole Turner on \u201cCharmed.\u201d He starred in three seasons of the supernatural teen drama.<\/p>\n<p>McMahon\u2019s first major leading role in television was on Ryan Murphy\u2019s campy plastic surgery series \u201cNip\/Tuck,\u201d which ran for six seasons on FX. He starred as Dr. Christian Troy, a womanizing and arrogant surgeon, who worked with Dylan Walsh\u2019s more milquetoast Dr. Sean McNamara. He earned a Golden Globe nomination for the role in 2005.<\/p>\n<p>Years after the FX series, McMahon\u2019s next major TV role was on \u201cFBI: Most Wanted,\u201d where he played Jesse LaCroix, a supervisory special agent who mentored younger members of his team.
