Police<\/a> are hunting a teenage gang<\/a> who attacked an off-duty officer at Wood Green London Underground station last month.<\/p>\n

British Transport Police<\/a> said the female officer challenged a group who attempted to force their way through ticket barriers at around 4.20pm on Thursday, June 12.<\/p>\n

The group then attacked the woman, punching and kicking her before throwing a drink over her head.<\/p>\n

CCTV images released by detectives show four teenage girls and two teenage boys who officers want to speak to in connection with the incident.<\/p>\n

Police also wish to speak to two teenage boys about the attack (BTP)<\/p>\n

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact British Transport Police<\/a> by texting 61016, quoting 453 of 12 June.<\/p>\n

A BTP spokesman said: “Detectives investigating an assault<\/a> at Wood Green Underground Station have today released these images in connection. At around 4.20pm on Thursday, June 12 the victim, an off duty police<\/a> officer, challenged a group of people who attempted to barge through the barrier without tickets.<\/p>\n

“She was then set upon by the group who punched and kicked her and threw a drink over her head. Officers would like to speak to the people pictured as they believe they could have information which could help their investigation.<\/p>\n

“Anyone who recognises them is asked to contact British Transport Police by texting 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 453 of 12 June. Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”<\/p>\n

The incident comes as Transport for London launches a major crackdown on fare evasion across the capital\u2019s rail network<\/a>.<\/p>\n

TfL, which loses around \u00a3190 million a year to unpaid fares, says it will shift its focus beyond the Tube to include the Elizabeth line and London Overground in a bid to more than halve fare evasion by the end of the decade.<\/p>\n

The new campaign will also target repeat offenders \u2014 particularly so-called \u201cgate pushers\u201d who are increasingly forcing their way through barriers or using contactless cards that appear valid but are later declined by the bank.<\/p>\n
