Terrified students locked themselves in a school cupboard and barricaded the door after a girl ran in screaming about a stabbing at a Sheffield school, a court has heard.<\/p>\n

The girl had burst into a detention room shouting “someone’s been stabbed, there’s blood all over”, according to testimony at Sheffield Crown Court.<\/p>\n

A teenage witness told detectives in a pre-recorded police interview that “everyone was, like, screaming” following the girl’s announcement.<\/p>\n

The boy described how the group of students he was with “ran into a storage cupboard in the detention hall so we were safe, locked ourselves in and barricaded the door”.<\/p>\n

Harvey Willgoose, 15, died after being stabbed in the heart during the attack.<\/p>\n

A 15-year-old pupil at the school, who cannot be named for legal reasons, stands accused of murder.<\/p>\n

The defendant has admitted manslaughter but denies murder, and has also admitted possession of a knife on school premises.<\/p>\n

Jurors have viewed footage showing Harvey being stabbed in a school courtyard.<\/p>\n

The teenage witness said he immediately knew Harvey was the victim because “[The defendant] always carried a weapon and Harvey was having a bit of an argument with him”.<\/p>\n

The witness described seeing Harvey and the defendant pushing each other during break time earlier that day, though he initially thought they were “messing around” and that “it was a joke”.<\/p>\n

The court heard disturbing evidence about the defendant’s history of incidents at the school.<\/p>\n
