In the fourth Youth ODI of the five-match series, at Worcester, Vaibhav Suryavanshi<\/a> became both the youngest and the fastest centurion in the format.<\/p>\n

Suryavanshi blazed away to an astonishing start after England U19 captain Thomas Rew won the toss and opted to field at New Road. James Minto snared Indian captain Ayush Mhatre in the fourth over, but that did not deter Suryavanshi, who exploded in an array of fours and sixes.<\/p>\n

As Vihaan Malhotra stayed put at one end, Suryavanshi raced to his hundred in 52 balls, the fastest in the history of Youth ODIs. He beat Kamran Ghulam\u2019s record of 53 balls, against England at Grace Road in 2013.<\/p>\n

It must be mentioned that Suryavanshi holds the record for the second-quickest hundred in Youth Tests<\/strong><\/a> as well as the second-fastest hundred in IPL history<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The youngest to score a T20 hundred, Suryavanshi also became the youngest to score a hundred in Youth ODI. He is 141 days younger than Najmul Hossain Shanto was when the latter scored 109 against Sri Lanka in 2012\/13.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Suryavanshi eventually fell for a 77-ball 143, off Ben Mayes. His 10 sixes are the joint third-most*<\/strong> in the format, after Michael Hill\u2019s 12 and Craig Simmons\u2019 11 (both Australians). Pakistan\u2019s Shahzaib Khan had also hit 10.<\/p>\n

It’s the fastest 100+ knock in Youth ODIs, with his eventual strike-rate of 183.33<\/strong> comfortably the best ever.<\/p>\n

Now the youngest Indian Youth ODI centurion,<\/strong> he beat Sarfaraz Khan’s record at 15 years and 338 days from 2013.<\/p>\n
