Yungblud<\/a> has led a supergroup at the final Black Sabbath<\/a> concert, dedicating the band\u2019s song \u2018Changes\u2019 to the late footballer Diogo Jota.<\/p>\n

The historic gig, dubbed \u2018Back To The Beginning\u2019, is set to be the final farewell for the iconic heavy metal band<\/a>. The all-day event is going down at Villa Park in Birmingham today (July 5) and features a who\u2019s who of hard rock music.<\/p>\n

In the early afternoon, during a section listed on the running order as \u2018Supergroup A\u2019, Yungblud led a group that also included Nuno Bettencourt from Extreme<\/a> on guitar, II from Sleep Token<\/a> on drums and Adam Wakeman of Ozzy Osbourne<\/a>\u2019s band \u2013 and son of rock legend Rick \u2013 on keys.<\/p>\n

They played a version of Black Sabbath\u2019s \u2018Changes\u2019, the ballad from their 1972 album \u2018Vol. 4\u2019, which Yungblud dedicated to the late Liverpool star Jota, who tragically lost his life in a car accident in northern Spain on Thursday (July 3)<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Not content with taking up a role at \u2018Back To The Beginning\u2019, Yungblud is due to take to stage at Rock Werchter Festival in Belgium tonight (July 5)<\/a>, where he will be the last-minute replacement for Sam Fender<\/a>, who has had to cancel his appearance due to a vocal haemorrhage. Yungblud is due to play at 11:30pm local time.<\/p>\n

Announcing his new headline slot on his Instagram story, Yungblud teased: \u201cHave to make a quick stop in Birmingham first,\u201d before sharing a photo of him outside an Osbourne mural, alongside the hashtag #backtothebeginning.<\/p>\n

The gig is set to include a host of other huge names in the genre, including Metallica<\/a>, Slayer<\/a>,\u00a0Pantera<\/a>,\u00a0Alice In Chains<\/a>, Gojira<\/a>, Anthrax<\/a>, Smashing Pumpkins<\/a>\u2018\u00a0Billy Corgan<\/a>,\u00a0Guns N\u2019 Roses<\/a>,\u00a0KoRn<\/a>,\u00a0Tool<\/a>,\u00a0Aerosmith\u2019s Steven Tyler and the surviving members of Soundgarden<\/a>. Rage Against The Machine\u2019s Tom Morello will serve as musical director\u00a0<\/a>for the concert, which\u00a0is being live-streamed around the globe<\/a>, and\u00a0actor Jason Momoa will host<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Prince Of Darkness has not played a full gig since 2018, and has undergone multiple surgeries<\/a>\u00a0and experienced numerous health problems, including\u00a0Parkinson\u2019s disease<\/a>\u00a0in recent years.<\/p>\n

In an interview with\u00a0The Guardian<\/a>\u00a0earlier this year,\u00a0Osbourne looked ahead to playing the last Black Sabbath show in good health<\/a>, saying: \u201cI\u2019ll be there, and I\u2019ll do the best I can. All I can do is turn up.\u201d From there, there were also suggestions that he \u201cmay be sitting down\u201d on stage, and rumours\u00a0that he\u2019d be performing from a \u201cthrone that flies over the stadium\u201d<\/a>.<\/p>\n

His wife and manager, Sharon, also said to\u00a0NME\u00a0that, although\u00a0he now \u201ccan\u2019t walk\u201d<\/a>\u00a0as a result of Parkinson\u2019s,\u00a0his illness \u201cdoesn\u2019t affect his voice\u201d<\/a>. \u201cHe wants to say thank you to everybody,\u201d she explained to us at Villa Park. \u201cHe didn\u2019t have that chance because of his illness, but now he does have the chance.\u201d<\/p>\n

In other news,\u00a0Yungblud is set to embark on a UK and Ireland arena tour\u00a0<\/a>in 2026 \u2013\u00a0buy any remaining tickets here<\/a>.\u00a0Those dates will follow\u00a0next month\u2019s brief run of intimate UK gigs, dubbed \u2018Idols \u2013 Up Close And Personal\u2019<\/a>, and\u00a0Yungblud\u2019s headline tours in North America and Europe<\/a>\u00a0later this year.<\/p>\n
