Such Brave Girls<\/a>, the BBC sitcom branded a “total knockout”, has returned with its perfectly-rated second season<\/a>. <\/p>\n

The series<\/a>, written and created by Kat Sadler, follows Deb Johnson (Louise Brealey) and her daughters, Josie (Sadler) and Billie (Lizzie Davidson), as they navigate the various complications of life. <\/p>\n

Fresh from a critically-acclaimed debut season in 2023, the “chaotic” series returned with six brand new instalments on Thursday (3 July), with the whole second season available to stream on BBC iPlayer<\/a>. <\/p>\n

“As the dysfunctional family members navigate new relationships, and some old ones that just won\u2019t go away, the return of Such Brave Girls is a hilariously dark descent into more terribly thought-out life choices,” reads the logline for the second season (via BBC<\/a>).<\/p>\n

“Secrets are spilled, disasters multiply and deluded fantasies spiral out of control. This [season] the stakes are even higher for our relentlessly tragic family,” it continues, with the action seeing the central trio “risk everything” for a “single scrap of love and adoration”.<\/p>\n

Like its predecessor, which boasts a perfect approval rating of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes<\/a>, the second season has garnered acclaim from critics.<\/p>\n

“The return of this twisted tale of two troubled sisters and their mum is yet more scary, lairy and perfectly portioned comedy,” wrote The Guardian<\/a>, declaring the “startlingly feral” sitcom as a “total knockout”.<\/p>\n

The Sydney Morning Herald<\/a> dubbed it the “best comedy in years” as they called it “shocking” and “compelling”, while The Independent<\/a> wrote that the “brave” series was “bleakly funny” and ” refreshingly realistic”.<\/p>\n

The Financial Times<\/a> echoed this sentiment as they called it “unremittingly bleak and funny”, adding: “Kat Sadler\u2019s caustic series about a dysfunctional family returns with an irreverence that is both exhausting and invigorating.”<\/p>\n
