Ozzy Osbourne<\/a> has played an emotional final solo show ahead of Black Sabbath<\/a>\u2019s farewell concert \u2013 see footage below.<\/p>\n

The historic gig, dubbed \u2018Back To The Beginning\u2019,\u00a0is set to be the final farewell for\u00a0Osbourne\u2019s iconic heavy metal band. The all-day event is going down at Villa Park in Birmingham today (July 5) and features a who\u2019s who of hard rock music, with Rage Against The Machine<\/a>\u2019s Tom Morello<\/a> serving as musical director\u00a0for the concert.<\/p>\n

Ahead of Sabbath\u2019s set, Ozzy gave a final solo performance that saw him rise up from beneath the stage on a giant winged throne and launched into \u2018I Don\u2019t Know\u2019 and \u2018Mr. Crowley\u2019 from his first solo album, 1980\u2019s \u2018Blizzard Of Ozz\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s so good to be on this fucking stage, you have no idea,\u201d he told the huge crowd. \u201cLet the madness begin!\u201d<\/p>\n

He rounded out his set with 1991\u2019s \u2018Mama, I\u2019m Coming Home\u2019 and \u2018Crazy Train\u2019, the song played before kick-off at every Aston Villa game at Villa Park. Watch footage here:<\/p>\n

Elsewhere at \u2018Back To The Beginning\u2019, members of The Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, Rage Against The Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Blink-182 joined forces<\/a> for a Led Zeppelin cover and Yungblud led another supergroup in a version of \u2018Changes\u2019<\/a>, which they dedicated to the late footballer Diogo Jota.<\/p>\n

The Prince Of Darkness has not played a full gig since 2018, and has undergone multiple surgeries<\/a>\u00a0and experienced numerous health problems, including\u00a0Parkinson\u2019s disease<\/a>\u00a0in recent years.<\/p>\n

In an interview with\u00a0The Guardian<\/a>\u00a0earlier this year,\u00a0Osbourne looked ahead to playing the last Black Sabbath show in good health<\/a>, saying: \u201cI\u2019ll be there, and I\u2019ll do the best I can. All I can do is turn up.\u201d From there, there were also suggestions that he \u201cmay be sitting down\u201d on stage, and rumours\u00a0that he\u2019d be performing from a \u201cthrone that flies over the stadium\u201d<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Before then, he\u00a0told fans that he was \u201cin heavy training\u201d for the forthcoming farewell concert<\/a>, and\u00a0was back in the gym<\/a>. Osbourne also\u00a0said he would only be \u201cdoing little bits and pieces\u201d with Sabbath<\/a>\u00a0at Villa Park amid his health problems: \u201cI am doing what I can, where I feel comfortable.\u201d<\/p>\n

His wife and manager, Sharon, also said to\u00a0NME\u00a0that, although\u00a0he now \u201ccan\u2019t walk\u201d<\/a>\u00a0as a result of Parkinson\u2019s,\u00a0his illness \u201cdoesn\u2019t affect his voice\u201d<\/a>. \u201cHe wants to say thank you to everybody,\u201d she explained to us at Villa Park. \u201cHe didn\u2019t have that chance because of his illness, but now he does have the chance.\u201d<\/p>\n
