{"id":241885,"date":"2025-07-06T05:13:11","date_gmt":"2025-07-06T05:13:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/241885\/"},"modified":"2025-07-06T05:13:11","modified_gmt":"2025-07-06T05:13:11","slug":"floyd-mayweather-says-one-heavyweight-was-robbed-of-wins-against-muhammad-ali-go-back-and-watch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/241885\/","title":{"rendered":"Floyd Mayweather Says One Heavyweight Was Robbed Of Wins Against Muhammad Ali: &#8220;Go Back And Watch&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.secondsout.com\/topic\/floyd-mayweather\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Floyd Mayweather<\/a> believes <a href=\"https:\/\/www.secondsout.com\/topic\/muhammad-ali\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Muhammad Ali<\/a> should have more defeats on his record.<\/p>\n<p>These are two of the biggest names to come from boxing in the past 50 years, with Mayweather hanging up his gloves in 2017 after a stellar career.<\/p>\n<p>He defeated fellow greats like Manny Pacquiao, Oscar De La Hoya and Canelo Alvarez on his way to becoming a five-weight world champion, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.secondsout.com\/news\/boxing-legend-says-he-is-better-than-ali\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">declaring himself as \u2018The Best Ever\u2019 in the process.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>However, to many boxing fans, the best ever will always be seen as Ali, having been victorious in some of the biggest fights in the history of the sport.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/edition.cnn.com\/2024\/10\/30\/sport\/rumble-in-the-jungle-50-years-on-spt-intl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">He was involved in epic clashes such as the \u2018Rumble In The Jungle\u2019 against George Foreman<\/a> and the \u2018Thrilla In Manila\u2019 against Joe Frazier, but Mayweather feels it is another opponent who should have had more success against the heavyweight icon.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/shorts\/PrqQK3Tm2JI\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">In an interview<\/a>, Mayweather named the man who he insists should have been triumphant on all three occasions when sharing the ring with \u2018The Greatest.\u2019<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cKen Norton really beat Ali all three times, go back and look at the fights.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Ali and Norton first met in March 1973, with Norton claiming a split decision victory. They met again in an immediate rematch six months later, with Ali scoring the reverse result on that occasion.<\/p>\n<p>A trilogy between the two men took place in September 1976, and saw Ali win by unanimous decision, but it was another close battle that some fans felt could have gone either way, showing that Mayweather may not be alone with his assessment. Norton himself called it a \u2018robbery.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Despite his unwavering confidence, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.secondsout.com\/news\/ali-urged-foreman-to-fight-one-man\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ali apparently confessed to rival Foreman \u2013 who had stopped him inside two rounds \u2013 that he felt he didn\u2019t have the beating of Norton before their trilogy.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Floyd Mayweather believes Muhammad Ali should have more defeats on his record.
