Kyle Walker<\/a><\/strong> has joined Burnley<\/a><\/strong> from Manchester City<\/a><\/strong> for a reported \u00a35 million.<\/p>\n

The right-back spent the last six months of the previous season on loan at A.C. Milan<\/a><\/strong>, where he made 11 appearances for the Rossoneri.<\/p>\n

The Englishman has made nearly 400 Premier League<\/a><\/strong> appearances with Manchester City<\/a><\/strong> and Tottenham Hotspur<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Clarets+ after his move, \u201cI wanted to be a part of the success and this journey that they are going on,\u201d said Walker.<\/p>\n

The Englishman admitted, \u201cFootball is a strange and weird and wonderful game.\u201d Two years ago, few Burnley<\/a><\/strong> fans or Kyle Walker<\/a><\/strong> himself would have expected the Englishman to be the fifth summer signing.<\/p>\n

During his spell at Tottenham Hotspur<\/a><\/strong>, Walker was a teammate of Scott Parker<\/a><\/strong>, and the Englishman was full of praise for his new manager, saying, \u201cI have had the pleasure of playing and sharing a dressing room with him, not just at Tottenham but at England as well.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I spoke to Scott and heard about his plans for next season, it was an opportunity I jumped at.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Englishman added, \u201cHe has done an amazing job here, guiding the club back to the Premier League<\/a><\/strong> with a 100-point haul\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

The Englishman brings a number of key aspects to Scott Parker<\/a><\/strong>\u2019s side and seems to fill the void left by CJ Egan-Riley<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Walker came through the Sheffield United<\/a><\/strong> academy – making his senior debut for the Blades in the F.A Cup in 2009.<\/strong><\/p>\n

After making his first start in April 2009, Walker would go onto start and play the full 90 minutes in a 0-1 defeat to the Clarets <\/a><\/strong>at Wembley <\/a><\/strong>in the 2009 Championship Playoff- Final.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Walker would go on to join Tottenham Hotspur<\/a><\/strong><\/a> that summer for \u00a39m.<\/p>\n

He would return to Bramall Lane<\/a><\/strong> on loan and also join QPR on a temporary basis before breaking into the Spurs team at the start of the 2011\/12 Season.<\/p>\n

In his breakout season in North London,<\/a><\/strong> Walker would go on to win the PFA <\/a>Young Player<\/a><\/strong> of the Year<\/strong> award, having made 37 appearances, and would also be inducted into the PFA Team of the Year<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Walker moved to Manchester City<\/a><\/strong> in the summer of 2017, joining the eventual centurions for a \u00a345 million fee.<\/p>\n

Despite his home debut not ending positively \u2013 with the right-back seeing red for two yellow cards against Everton<\/a><\/strong> \u2013 Walker finished the season with an EFL Cup<\/a><\/strong> and a Premier League<\/a><\/strong> title, his first two major honours.<\/p>\n

Walker went on to win further silverware with the Citizens: another four Premier League<\/a><\/strong> titles, two FA Cups<\/strong>, three League Cups<\/strong>, and a Champions League<\/a><\/strong> title followed before joining A.C. Milan<\/a><\/strong> on loan earlier this season.<\/p>\n

Walker was named Manchester City<\/a><\/strong> captain ahead of the 2023\u20132024 season, donning the armband in the league for the first time at Turf Moor<\/a><\/strong> against the Clarets.<\/p>\n

Leadership is another key quality of Walker; he went on to lead the team to a Premier League<\/a><\/strong> title, along with picking up a UEFA Super Cup<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Having played alongside some modern greats in, David Silva<\/strong> and former Clarets boss Vincent Kompany<\/a><\/strong>, Walker boasts an impressive record which provides some necessary experience to Scott Parker<\/a><\/strong>\u2019s side.<\/p>\n

Walker\u2019s leadership qualities may need to be used, as club captain Josh Brownhill<\/a><\/strong> is yet to renew his contract, which expired on the 1st of July.<\/p>\n

\u201cI try to be a leader as much as possible on the pitch,\u201d the Englishman said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI hope that the younger lads can look up to me and see the type of football that I have been taught over the past number of years.\u201d<\/p>\n

Walker can be used in a variety of positions, which provides Scott Parker<\/a><\/strong> some flexibility.<\/p>\n

In a similar vein to Bashir Humphreys<\/a><\/strong>, Walker has been used at both centre-back and right-back across his Manchester City<\/a><\/strong> career.<\/p>\n

Walker has also played in an inverted wing-back position, something which Scott Parker<\/a><\/strong> has previously shown at Bournemouth<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

With the signing of wing-back Quinchy Hartman<\/strong> last week, Scott Parker<\/a><\/strong> appears to be moving towards a defensive back five, something which he used at points last season to see out games.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Kyle Walker has joined Burnley from Manchester City for a reported \u00a35 million.
