\n\tWith theaters preparing for a British Invasion ahead of the upcoming Beatles<\/a> cinematic event in 2028, Ringo Starr<\/a> is making sure the movies get it right.<\/p>\n

\n\tAfter flying to London in April to meet with director Sam Mendes<\/a>, the Beatles drummer revealed he had issues with how his first marriage to Maureen Starkey Tigrett was depicted in the script for the upcoming four-part biopic about the legendary British rock band, which is penned by Jez Butterworth<\/a>, Peter Straughan<\/a> and Jack Thorne<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cHe had a writer \u2014 very good writer, great reputation, and he wrote it great, but it had nothing to do with Maureen and I,\u201d Starr explained to The New York Times<\/a>. \u201cThat\u2019s not how we were. I\u2019d say, \u2018We would never do that.’\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tStarr is now pleased with his depiction in the script, but he remains skeptical of how Mendes will shoot four films at a time. \u201cBut he\u2019ll do what he\u2019s doing, and I\u2019ll send him peace and love,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

\n\tBarry Keoghan<\/a>, who\u2019s been tapped to play Starr, previously recounted his \u201cabsolutely lovely\u201d meeting<\/a> with the real percussionist, who \u201cplayed the drums for me,\u201d recalling it as \u201cwas one of those moments where you\u2019re just in awe and just froze.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tLast February, Deadline exclusively revealed that Mendes is set to direct each installment<\/a> of The Beatles \u2014 A Four-Film Cinematic Event, through his Neal Street Productions and Sony Pictures Entertainment. Each film will connect, telling the band\u2019s story from each member\u2019s point of view.<\/p>\n
