The series called The Dream Lands was filming in St Jude’s on April 13 and will be continuing through the week.<\/p>\n
The Dream Lands , produced by SISTER and Universal International Studios for BBC<\/a> iPlayer and BBC One was seen filming in the DOCUMENT building, on James Street.<\/p>\n Actors were seen wearing military uniforms and carrying fake weapons in the former Scaddings Timber Yard, just around the corner from the DOCUMENT building.<\/p>\n The six-part dystopian series, set 14 years in the future, will explore the impact of climate change and society inequality on the Dreamland Margate resort.<\/p>\n The BBC One series is a TV adaptation of Rosa-Gee\u2019s novel Dreamland, named after the famous Margate theme park.<\/p>\n It tells the story of Chance, a young woman who \u2018discovers life and love, while being forced to fight for her family\u2019s survival in a world that is crumbling around her.\u2019<\/p>\n Sign up to receive daily news updates and breaking news alerts straight to your inbox for free here<\/a><\/strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n Describing the new series, a BBC spokesperson last year said: \u201cIt\u2019s 2039 and temperatures are soaring, seas are rising, and the political climate is equally as menacing. Chance is living a life of crime just to get by, when her community is singled out for a government rejuvenation scheme, promising to bring her coastal town back to life.<\/p>\n \u201cBut when Chance falls in love with Franky, a girl with ties to the establishment, she and those closest to her begin to realise that all may not be as it seems.<\/p>\n \u201cThe Dream Lands is a thrilling voyage of romantic awakening and self-discovery, a defiant community fighting back. Part conspiracy thriller and part relationship drama, the story blazes with the enduring power of love and hope, in a world spinning out of control,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n Filming has previously taken place on Meadow Street and Portview Road in Avonmouth<\/a> for a week in early March.<\/p>\n Programme-makers at the time held open casting looking for young people to be involved.<\/p>\n Some of the scenes were filmed using smoke, fire and loud noises. Some of the characters were seen wearing military-style costumes and holding replica weapons.<\/p>\n Before filming in Bristol, the TV series was shot in Margate and Weston-Super-Mare, throughout last summer until December.<\/p>\n The Dream lands has been brought to the TV screens by BAFTA award-winning writer Kayleigh Llewellyn, best known for Killing Eve.<\/p>\n Pascale Kann will star as Chance, alongside Sex Education actor, Connor Swindells.
