(Image: Colin Lane)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The owner of a fried chicken joint which claims to serve the best sliders &#8220;outside of America&#8221; has sent a message of thanks to his customers. Ben Raywood co-owns Beak alongside Sam McKee and Natalie Grady with the friends having venues in both <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/crosby\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Crosby<\/a> and<a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/smithdown-road\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\"> Smithdown.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The group launched their business in January 2021 when they sold 50 burgers every Friday from Sam\u2019s mum\u2019s kitchen. Fast forward to today, and after years of \u201ctrial and error\u201d, <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/whats-on\/food-drink-news\/four-liverpool-restaurants-competing-named-31977598\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">the restaurant is competing to be named best in the North West.<\/a> The company is hoping to walk away from this year\u2019s Uber Eats Restaurant of The Year Awards \u00a3100,000 richer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">However, the friends will have to beat off competition from Liverpool\u2019s The Bagelry, Woffle and Maggie Fu, as well as a handful of other venues around the region.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Ben <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">told the ECHO<\/a> what the shortlist nomination meant to the restaurant. The 35-year-old said: \u201cI want to say a massive thanks to all the Beak heads who order week in and week out. We are just three friends from Crosby who wanted a change from our corporate jobs because it was leaving us in a state of disillusionment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Now in its fourth year, the Uber Eats awards recognise the incredible contributions of<a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/whats-on\/food-drink-news\/\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\"> small and independently run restaurants to their local communities and the food industry.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Joining the judging panel are some of the most recognisable names in food culture today such as entrepreneur and musician Levi Roots, Irish celebrity chef and TV hostClodag h McKenna and last year\u2019s standout winner, Natty Crutchfield, whose restaurant went from cult hit to national fame.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/1751808853_448_0_Beak-Fried-Chicken-on-Smithdown-Place-Allerton-Liverpool-Photo-by-Colin-Lane.jpg\" alt=\"Upstairs with the Beak sign by artist Austin Wilde. All finalists will also receive a \u00a35,000 prize and a tailored support package from<a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/news\/liverpool-news\/mans-message-judge-after-stole-31779224\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\"> Uber Eats<\/a> to help boost their business.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Uber Eats has also launched the Next Gen Trailblazer Award, a new honour designed to spotlight hospitality entrepreneurs under the age of 27 who are innovating, inspiring, and disrupting the food scene. The winner will receive a \u00a310,000 business development grant and support package. The new Next Gen Trailblazer Award is a bold step in backing the young innovators who are rewriting the rules of hospitality\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Uber Eats is once again inviting the public to<a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"http:\/\/ubereatsawards.com\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\"> nominate their favourite local restaurants online<\/a>.
