But screw them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tReleasing July 11 in theaters, <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/david-corenswet\/\" id=\"auto-tag_david-corenswet\" data-tag=\"david-corenswet\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">David Corenswet<\/a> stars as the iconic bespectacled superhero, depicted in the movie as an already established reporter at the Daily Planet dating Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan). When he gets drawn into conflict at home and abroad, the Man of Steel \u2014 and his trusty flying dog Krypto \u2014 must contend with swiftly shifting public opinion as tech billionaire Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult) spots an opportunity to ascend.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cYes, it\u2019s about politics,\u201d Gunn said of his take. \u201cBut on another level it\u2019s about morality. Do you never kill no matter what \u2014 which is what Superman believes \u2014 or do you have some balance, as Lois believes? It\u2019s really about their relationship and the way different opinions on basic moral beliefs can tear two people apart.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tWhile Gunn said the Warner Bros. Pictures movie aims to balance its message and fun family appeal, the ultimate goal is to tell a human story.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cThis\u00a0Superman\u00a0does seem to come at a particular time when people are feeling a loss of hope in other people\u2019s goodness,\u201d the Guardians of the Galaxy director shared. \u201cI\u2019m telling a story about a guy who is uniquely good, and that feels needed now because there is a meanness that has emerged due to cultural figures being mean online.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tHe continued, \u201cAnd I include myself in this. It is ad infinitum, millions of people having tantrums online. How are we supposed to get anywhere as a culture? We don\u2019t know what\u2019s real, and that is a really difficult place for the human brain to be. If I could press a button to make the internet disappear I\u2019d consider it.
