Shahed drones have become a <a href=\"https:\/\/kyivindependent.com\/russia-launches-record-5-402-drones-against-ukraine-in-june\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">central part<\/a> of Moscow&#8217;s airstrike tactics since late 2022 due to their low cost and high payload.<\/p>\n<p>Located on the Volga River, Cheboksary is the capital of the Chuvash Republic and lies deep inside Russian territory. Astra and local Russian Telegram channels earlier <a href=\"https:\/\/t.me\/astrapress\/85661\">reported<\/a><strong> <\/strong>explosions in the city overnight.<\/p>\n<p>Russia&#8217;s Defense Ministry claimed to have shot down two drones over the region.<\/p>\n<p>This marks the second known Ukrainian drone strike on VNIIR-Progress.
