Sunday Brunch shared a poignant message in today’s episode as Liverpool stars also paid tribute to LFC footballer Diogo Jota,<\/a> who died earlier this week age 28. The popular Sunday morning TV show was back on our screens today, July 6, hosted by Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer.<\/p>\n The hosts welcomed a plethora of celebrities to their famous Channel 4 <\/a>kitchen, including Steph McGovern, Bettany Hughes and Liverpool musician Peter Hooton from The Farm. But after introducing this weekend’s guests, Tim took a moment to honour LFC forward Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva.<\/p>\n The brothers died following a crash on the A-52 in Palacios de Sanabria near the city of Zamora in Spain at 12.40am on Thursday, July 3. Jota signed for Liverpool FC back in September 2020<\/a> and his brother, who is two years younger, was a professional for Portuguese second-tier team Penafiel.<\/p>\n READ MORE: Black Sabbath fans left ‘in bits’ as stars make emotional tribute to footballer Diogo Jota<\/a>READ MORE: Diogo Jota’s lasting gift to his home town will never be forgotten <\/a><\/p>\n Speaking to those gathered on set and thousands of viewers, Tim said: “Before we get on with the show, there has been some really tragic news this week about Diogo Jota, and being a Liverpool fan..”<\/a><\/p>\n LFC fan Simon Rimmer, originally from Wallasey<\/a>, then said: “It’s shocking. Pete and I were talking in makeup. A human tragedy, a 28-year-old man, who has just got married and had two young children.<\/p>\n “I think the way in which the football community has come together is very very powerful.” Turning to guest Peter Hooton, Simon added: “What do you think Pete?”.<\/p>\n Singer and LFC supporter Peter said: “The way people have rallied round. Members of the public lined the streets outside the church to pay their respects. Alongside family members and loved ones, Liverpool FC<\/a> and international players, as well as member of the football community from around the globe, attended the service.<\/p>\n This weekend, residents in the Portuguese town where Diogo Jota and Andre Silva grew up<\/a> have also continued to pay tribute. Flowers and messages of tribute have mounted at Anfield<\/a> stadium following the death of the brothers.<\/p>\n Tributes have also been paid by a number of famous musicians at concerts this week.
