BBC Radio 1<\/a> has revealed two new huge names for this year\u2019s Big Weekend festival in Sefton<\/a> Park. The festival is coming to Liverpool for the first time next month from Friday, May 23 to Sunday, May 25.<\/p>\n Now, in what Radio 1 has described as an \u201cexciting first for Big Weekend 2025\u201d, the festival will feature a performance from Radio 1 Anthems acts \u2013 celebrating iconic tracks and unforgettable moments from the past two decades of music.<\/p>\n These headline acts will see Unwritten singer Natasha Bedingfield performing on Friday, May 23 and legendary pop group the Sugababes taking to the stage on Saturday, May 24.<\/p>\n Speaking about the announcement, Natasha Bedingfield said: \u201cIt\u2019s a big deal to be part of Radio 1\u2019s Big Weekend. I can’t wait to jump up on stage and sing my heart out with everyone. Let\u2019s hope some inhibitions get released!\u201d<\/p>\n The Sugababes added: \u201cWe\u2019re buzzing to be playing Radio 1\u2019s Big Weekend! We\u2019ve heard amazing things about the energy and the crowds, so we\u2019re excited to be part of it this year. Expect a lot of love, big tunes, and a show to remember!\u201d<\/p>\n Aled Haydn Jones, Head of Radio 1, said: \u201cRadio 1\u2019s Big Weekend is about bringing people together through the music they love, and our Radio 1 Anthems artists are a perfect example of that.<\/p>\n \u201cThese acts have soundtracked unforgettable moments for our audience and continue to resonate with listeners today \u2013 whether they\u2019re rediscovering the songs or discovering them for the first-time.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m really excited about this brand-new addition to Big Weekend and can\u2019t wait to see the impact these iconic acts will have on the crowd in Liverpool.\u201d<\/p>\n This exciting new addition to Big Weekend is in keeping with the Radio 1 Anthems extension which launched on BBC<\/a> Sounds last November (2024) and was provisionally approved by Ofcom last week to launch on DAB+.<\/p>\n Radio 1 Anthems helps the station\u2019s young listeners to discover and re-discover a wide range of music and artists championed by Radio 1 throughout the 2000s and 2010s.<\/p>\n With over 100,000 music fans expected to attend across the weekend, audiences can look forward to nostalgia-packed, feel-good sets full of timeless hits and throwback moments from these two iconic acts.<\/p>\n Last month, global rock band HAIM were added to the festival’s 2025 line-up. The Grammy-nominated trio join an already stellar line-up featuring some of the biggest names in music including Sam Fender, Tate McRae, Mumford & Sons, JADE, Tom Grennan, Confidence Man, Lola Young, AJ Tracey plus many more.
